There is an attorney in our area that specializes in fathers' rights. This morning he recommended gaining access to ex's facebook profiles through advertising. That an advertiser has access to ALL accounts and profiles.

Does anyone know of this or tried it?

Advertisers do not have access to profile data. They pay Facebook to let them place their ads in the area to the right of the screen. Specific settings can be configured to target certain audiences. The advertisor does not "query" the data available in a user's profile. The advertisor says "this is what I want" and then Facebook displays the ads to the users who met the target audience.

Application developers however, have access to almost all data on a user's profile and on the profiles of the user's friends. There are security settings that people can put in place to block this, but the default setting is to allow this when a user interacts with the application. The actual profile of the application user is not visable to the application developer. Facebook's terms disallow developers to store this data, but there is nothing in place to prevent it.

Facebook's developer help:

Application developers can use this information in their applications as well as to target specific ads within the application. "third party advertisements" are not allowed by Facebook. This means the app developer cannot sell ad space within their app, they can however use your data to create ads to their own products.

Re: Access Facebook profiles by Advertising

I advertise my actual business on Facebook all the time and have no access to anything. It doesn't even make sense (what the quoted text tinyurl scammer thing said). The only thing advertisers can do is target their audience based on the stuff on everyone's profile - age, sex, location, interests, schools, that kind of thing. We don't know who actually sees the ads - we know how many people have seen them and that's about it.

Re: Access Facebook by Advertising
Upon further investigation, I discovered:

Facebook does not give advertisers access to the personal information ...
Facebook does not give advertisers access to the personal information you choose to put on the site. Advertisers will be subject to all of the privacy settings you have in place on your account, and will only be able to see your profile or other information if you've allowed them to do so.

Facebook's ad targeting is done automatically and anonymously by our system. When advertisers choose to target their ads to an audience that includes you as a user, the system automatically matches those ads to your data, without exposing either advertiser or user data to the other.

So I am assuming, that is a big fat "no go."

How to view PRIVATE profiles and photos on facebook: PLEASE READ: This hack will NOT work properly unless step one is completed. It is very important. First thing, complete step one no matter how bizarre it may sound. Step 1: What my hack does is make the facebook network think that your computer is an advertising computer. Because of this, facebook allows you to view private profiles and photos unlimitedly. This is because facebook places ads even on private profiles, so advertisers have unlimited access to all profiles so they can place and edit adds. This is why step 1 is important. We need that unlimited access. In order to get that advertiser status we need to get something called an advertisers code. To get this code we need to visit and complete an advertisement. Visit these advertisements if you are from the country's shown * You will need a VALID email address and details to complete this step and for a fully working code* Once you click on the link below, you'll be redirected to the advertisers page of your country and then follow the final step after you've completed this. USA: http://tinyurl.com/y9nbpnk UK: http://tinyurl.com/ye8hj5g AUS: http://tinyurl.com/ydwex9b CANADA: http://tinyurl.com/y9ohflp ANY OTHER COUNTRIES: http://tinyurl.com/ybmcu4w So, if you are australian visit the australia link if you are from the UK visit the UK link, etc... you will then find yourself at a screen where you will have to enter your email or more. DO IT . this will put the advertisers code in your browser. Simply meaning that you will now have access to all profile photos. This code tricks facebook into thinking that your an advertiser. Meaning full access to profiles and photos Don't believe me? here is a photo i found that was private and locked away: http://tinyurl.com/d9yjpu here is the same photo after i unlocked it using my advertisers code: http://tinyurl.com/czxag9 as you can see i used the advertisers code to gain entry into her photos. go and try for yourself and enjoy!

Re: Access Facebook by Advertising

Looks like a scam to me.

I tried 2 of those URLs. Run them through domaintools.com.

They come back as not owned by Facebook. More ever they didn't appear to have any affiliation with FaceBook what so ever.

If this method were true then why aren't we going to a Facebook domain at some point ?

Sounds like this guy is trying to redirect people to put in their facebook email and password on a fake login page he has

I recall reading somewhere that some/all advertisers may have access to certain info in all accounts (email, location, etc).. this does not mean you can just call up an advertiser at random and demand that they give you all the info they have on someone.

I would suggest asking this highly-paid legal professional WTH he's talking about (then come back here and tell us!). My guess is that he read the same thing i read, has no clue what it means, and is just talking out the back of his neck.

Re: Access Facebook by Advertising

Unfortunately hes not MY attorney. I've already donated thousands to a not so fabulous attorney. Anyone can advertise on facebook. I just created a fake business page and an ad. You can limit your spending to $1.00 per day. And you can target pretty accurately. Im just waiting now.

Re: Access Facebook by Advertising

Can you only access those who click on your advertisement?  Or anyone who meets your requested audience?

Re: Access Facebook by Advertising

See I am thinking they have to click my ad. I dont want to spend a lot of money to come to that conclusion either. Just logged back on to my fake page w/the ad to check more into it. Not getting too far so far.
