IE Help - Debug Assertion Failed

Every time I go on a forum I frequent, I always get a Microsoft Visual C++ Debug Library Message

Here is exactly what it says:

Debug Assertion Failed!

Program: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe
File: c:\program files\microsoft visual studio 8\vc\include\xtree
Line: 293

Expression: map/set iterators incompatible

For information on how your program can cause an assertion failure, see the Visual C++ documentation on asserts.

(Press Retry to debug the application)

I have no idea what C++ is or anything so if anyone could help me, it'd be great. I don't have microsoft visual studio 8 or whatever, I don't think.

Thank you!

Re: IE Help - Debug Assertion Failed

could be a poorly programmed ActiveX object, possibly malware of some sort. i would suggest running 'Adware' and 'SpyBot Search & destroy' (or equivalent), clean out your IE temp folder and remove any unneeded ActiveX objects.

GUG has a great thread on Spyware and Viruses Explained that you may want to read as well.

I have tried malaware removal as well as an anti-virus removal and with no success!..THis only started after I did updates.

Re: IE Help - Debug Assertion Failed
Same here. I just downloaded the update to Adobe Acrobat, and now I'm getting this error -- it's driving me crazy already! I can't visit any site without it popping up. Clicking on "retry" is the only selection that keeps it from popping up. That is, until I click to a new screen, hit "back", select another link. Ugh! >.<
Re: IE Help - Debug Assertion Failed

have you tried checking in Tools|Internet Options|Advanced and UNchecking the "enable debugging" and "display script errors" boxes?
The other option might be to stop using internet exploder and use Firefox instead..
