Is there a way to "duplicate" text messages? Meaning, can I set it up to send me a copy of my childs text messages?

Did you figure out how to do this? I need to do the same thing for my daughter's phone.

Can I setup an iphone to send duplicate text messages to my ipod touch? They are both under the same apple id and icloud account.

When you say "send duplicate messages", I assume you mean to send and receive the same iMessages on both devices. If this is not what you mean, please clarify.

As long as both are running iOS 6, just add your iCloud account to both, make sure iMessages is on, and check the settings.

Only iMessages can be sent/shared on iCloud, SMS/TXT messages cannot be shared/sent.

Ok so, say I want to read my childs iMessages, BOTH what she is sending and what is being sent to her - Will this stuff up MY OWN messaging in and out? Or will she be able to also see what I am sending in and out of iMessages because we are both on the same iCloud account with duplicate messages so that I can see hers.. Gee I hope that made sense haha

you can only setup one iCloud account for iMessaging on a device at a time.. So, you would be her.. there would be no "you" or "your imessages" ..
You would still be able to send standard SMS/TXT messages to your contacts that do not use iMessage.

I'm curious to know if this ended up working out for you? I am thinking of doing the same thing.

Another question. i can send and receive imessages to me phone and email. Can I set it up on her phone to send to my email also? Still understanding of course that this will only apply to imessages.

No way in the stock iPhone (non jailbroke) to send iMessages to email.

Dont start asking about Jailbreaking - if you have to ask, it's far too complicated and risky.

This was really easier for my parents! All they had to do was stand outside the door and overhear my converstions!!!! Too much technology for concerned parents!!!

Re: Duplicate Text messaging on iPhone

If you have an iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad or Mac (with Mountain Lion) you can add her iCloud account into your iMessages settings. This would send all of her iMessages to your device just like it was her. It would also allow you to reply to them, just like you were her.

Note that this only applies to iMessages, not all SMS/Text messages - meaning you would only see messages from people with iPhones and/or people using iCloud.

Also note that if her iPhone has iOS6, she would get a pop-up message notifying her that a new device (showing the name of the device) has started using her iCloud account.

She doesnt have an icloud account, so could use mine on her phone? Would she still get the pop up? If the other party doesnt have imessage, will it still show me what she is sending?

Re: Duplicate Text messaging on iPhone

What you would see is limited to iMessages only. iMessages are only messages sent from iPhones OR iPads, iPod Touches or Macs, using iCloud and the iMessage system. In order for another device (yours) to get copies of iMessages sent to her, the same iCloud account must be configured on both devices (yours and hers).

i dont think you can acheive what you are looking for using iCloud.

Re: Duplicate Text messaging on iPhone
I think it will. If i use my icloud account on her phone, i will see all imessages sent and received from here phone via my icloud account. Right? I understand that if she communicates with some who doesnt have an iphone, that i wont see what they are sending, but i would get half the conversation.

Re: Duplicate Text messaging on iPhone

You would see iMessages sent to her phone number from other iphones
You would BOTH see iMessages sent/recived to/from YOUR iCloud account
Unless you take additional steps to add restrictions and lock her out of 'account settings' on the iphone, if she starts poking around in the accounts screen, she would see your account info = BUSTED!
If she communicates with someone that does not have an iPhone, you will see nothing
