Facebook: Deactivated or Blocked?

I have a friend who recently became "invisible" to me on Facebook: Can't find her in the search box, on my friends list or on any of our mutual friends' lists. She sent me a message a while back, so I went to see if it was still in my inbox...it is, but her picture is gone and her name appears in black letters without an active link to her page.

After doing some research, it appears that this could only mean one of two things:
1. She deactivated/deleted her account, or
2. She blocked me.
3. when I log into my fake account, search for our mutual friends and look through THEIR friend lists, she doesn't appear. It's like she's just not there anymore.

Short of asking our mutual friends about it, is there any way to distinguish between the two?

...Sorry, one more thing to add. I was playing around with the settings on my fake account and found that blocking myself (real account) made it so that I couldn't see my fake account in another person's "Info", i.e. the "in a relationship with ___." It used to say "in a relationship with H.C.", now it just says "in a relationship". Clear as mud? Regarding the person in my original question: I can still see her name in people's "info" as a sibling, but the link to her page is dead. Does this mean her account has been deleted?

I can still see her name in a mutual friends' "Info" section as a sibling, but the link to her page is dead (black letters). When I tried this with a fake account (blocking my real account), the name disappeared from our mutual friends' "Info" altogether...i.e., where it once said "In a relationship with H.C." it now only says "In a relationship" after blocking myself. Does this mean the girl from my original question has had her account deleted since I can still see her name in a friend's "Info"? Because it doesn't work like that when you're blocked.

(I'm freaking out a bit because I used to glance at her profile pretty often...hope there's no way for her to know that! Ugh!)

Thanks in advance!

You people (or children) are all pitiful. If you are blocked by the person and you don't know why either ask them about it (in REAL LIFE), or just move on with your miserable life. Is Facebook and people on it, that you don't really know, that important and worth so much time an angst? GET A LIFE PEOPLES!

What does the FaceBook message "sorry this page isn't available" (with the thumb image) mean? Has the account been deleted?

Re: Facebook: Deactivated or Blocked?

I have a question:
so im on facebook and i look at my friends profile quiet alot. Then all sudden on day her profile picture is blank but i can still click her name link, but its says it been deactivated (its in blue on friends list).

So im starting to think either deactivated or blocked. A couple months later its says she is back on and i was able to access her profile, she had a picture and everything. Then next day her profile picture is not up on my friends list her mutual friends and friends list is gone and i cant access her account again, or message her.

Two questions:
1: can someone know your looking at their profile and
2: am i blocked or the account has been deactivated.

1): No
2): Why don't you just ask her?

Re: Facebook: Deactivated or Blocked?

Over a year ago I blocked someone along with their friends and family. However, today I was told by someone that I am still listed on this 'past friends' page, as well as still being listed as a 'family' member.

My icon shows as well as my name. I have deleted all apps and every tagged picture I can find of this person. I understand past post or messages can not be deleted.

It bothers me greatly that I am still listed on this person's page as a friend/family member.

If I have blocked them why am I still listed this way on their page?

Thanks!

Re: Facebook: Deactivated or Blocked?
Did you get an answer? I am having the same problem with a family member I deleted and blocked. My mom went on her facebook page and I am still listed as her cousin. I need this removed and dont know how to do it.

Re: Facebook: Deactivated or Blocked?
In my facebook message archive I have old messages from ex-friends (in a facebook sense) Some have the persons name blacked and not clickable and the standard profile photograph, others show as Facebook User - also not clickable, and standard profile photograph. Is this the difference between deactivated and blocked profiles?

Re: Facebook: Deactivated or Blocked?
My main Facebook home page is now blank. I still have the list of friends at the right hand side. Now I may have inadvertently wiped this in some way but do not know. I have tried going into account settings and the help pages but they are of no use at all as the Facebook page remains stubbornly blank. Any ideas?

Re: Facebook: Deactivated or Blocked?

Unless you accidentally hit the "turn my facebook page blank" button, i dont think you did this - the problem is probobly in your browser OR some problem (probably temporary) on Facebook's end.
Does it look this way when you check from another web-browser, another computer, or when you are logged-out of Facebook? If not, then try rebooting your computer and clearing the browser cache and cookies.

If it looks this way on all computers and when your friends look at the page, then it's a problem with Facebook.. In this case they will probably fix it.. eventually.. someday.. maybe.. hopefully..

Blocked on facebook friend still showing

are you sure you blocked him?
.. i think the steps would be UNfriend him, then block him.. but i think that you shouldnt see him anymore even if you didnt unfriend him and then blocked him.

Re: Facebook: Deactivated or Blocked?

I have someone in my list that looked like he has deactivated his account because his name is in black not blue anymore, empty avatar, no list of mutual friends and of course I cannot access to his page.

But on mobile from the same account, his name is written in blue and I can access his page! I can access his page but it is limited because when I tried to click on one post (picture), I could not see it and it said he might have deleted it.

I wonder how did he do that. I have been trying to find out how, but I still can't figure out why. Does anybody know how to do that?

Re: Facebook: Deactivated or Blocked?

Re: Facebook: Deactivated or Blocked?
I don't think he blocked me because I can still see the white box to write a message below your previous message, just I couldn't send it because it said the link was not working. While when someone blocked you, there is a short message below your previous message to him telling that you cannot send any message to him. Actually, we are playing restriction games, to limit what each other can see from our FaceBook. So I think it is his way to restrict me, not FaceBook glitch as you said.

Re: Facebook: Deactivated or Blocked?
I posted a status on facebook that a so called friend took as a racist comment although he had taken it the wrong way. He said he had reported me and subsequently seconds later my account shut down. Now every time i try to log in it says my account is temporarily unavailable and to log in via a computer and follow the instructions given. Currently i have no access to a computer. My friends are still able to see my profile but ive been unable to access my account for 3 days now. I know it says temporary but ive recieved no email to say it will be inaccesesible for x amount of days. Does this mean im permanently blocked?

I'm certainly no Facebook expert, but, i think it means your account is temporarily unavailable until you log in via computer and follow the instructions.

Re: Facebook: Deactivated or Blocked?
When I searched the guy's name, it won't come up. I checked all our mutual friends but i couldn't find his name. So when i went to my own profile i found his name but it said "This account has been deactivated. Only you can see _____ on your friends list. You have the option to unfriend that person." but i don't really know if it's true because sometimes when you get blocked, doesn't tell you that you're blocked.

Re: Facebook: Deactivated or Blocked?
I had the same message for a friend who just added me yesterday. I don't understand why they would add me yesterday then block me today. lol. Only a matter of about 7 hours apart. It just says "Facebook User" in my chat history with them, but I can still send messages. I'm hoping it's just a glitch. Did yours ever get fixed?

Re: Facebook: Deactivated or Blocked?
I had the same thing happen with 2 friends. That same message popped up only once, on the first time I clicked on the now no-avatar picture, and subsequently there is nothing and no way to see my friend's page. The first friend I went to high school with and I had e-mail for her, so I wrote and told her what happened and she wrote back and told me I was still on her friends list and she had no idea what had happened. She said she had not changed anything. What is going on with this ? I still get posts from her on my wall so this is very weird. This has happened since FaceBook has made me transition to timeline. Does anyone know how this kind of glitch can be fixed ??? I'm feeling pretty frustrated.
