gmail last account activity

I recently just realized that my gmail account provides what they call "last account activity". It lets you know the ip address that last accessed your account. It is located all the way at the bottom of the screen. If you click on the link, it will give you information on the ip address and how it was accessed (via POP3, browser, mobile, etc...) It also gives you the option to sign out all other sessions. For example if you were at work checking your email, then you get home and realize that you never signed out at work. This feature is sooooo important for me since I recently found out someone had installed a keylogger in my computer and was accessing my e-mail and myspace accounts.

I was wondering if anyone knew if yahoo offers the same service/feature. I tried looking but did not find anything.

You can turn off Last Account Activity Alerts by changing your alert preferences underneath the recent activity table. Click change, next to Show an alert for unusual activity and you'll have the option to never show an alert for unusual activity. Keep in mind that we need about a week to disable this feature, to make sure the bad guys aren't the ones who turned off your alerts

How can you tell by waiting a week if the bad guys aren't the ones who turned it off. Do you send a confirmation or notification to the email address or ??? Or do I need to check to see if it has been changed myself?

so uh.... is there anyway to delete it if you are accessing someone's account that you shouldn't be?

No, the information comes straight from gmail. They are the ones that are tracking it. When I checked mine, it went days back. I guess if you log on their computer it would erase the last ip address, which is the one that appears on the front page. To look at the recent history, you actually have to notice the link all the way at the bottom and click on it. You will get a pop-up with the information when you click on that link. You better pray they don't notice.

If it only keeps track of the past 4 IP's that accessed that gmail address - couldn't you login to that gmail using 4 different proxies to override the previous 4 IP addresses? I checked my gmail account and only see the last 4 ip addresses I logged in from. Or is it more than four? Just a thought.

Is there a way out where i can check my account login activity for last five days?

Re: gmail last account activity

Viewing a longer history would be very useful. Like on poster said, an intruder could just log in from a few proxies to hide the real one. Also, you may find out days or weeks after it happened, would be nice to have that visibility. I am betting Google could provide that information if requested, but would be inconvenient if you just want to check on a suspicion.

We should get this for longer duration.... sometimes it is too late for the last 4 logins .. before we doubt that some access did happen... I am sure that if they can provide 5, they can also provide a longer history... I would vote for a longer history....
