The best thing for nails is gelatin pills or just plain ol Jello. The gelatin also makes your hair stronger, btw. My nails are naturally thick and curve well. They grow too fast so I am constantly changing nail polishes. The worst thing to put your nails in is bleach. They become brittle and yellow.
I definitely think bleach is the number one enemy against nails. I clean with the Clorox spray bleach, (I love the stuff!), but it does a number on my nails. I know.. I know. wear gloves... but I just don't. *sighs*
when i was a teen i couldnt grow my nails for anything. there was this girl in my class who had perfect and natural square rounded nails. beautiful. all she did was file them she said. it looked like she was wearing tips. i had heard about the jello and gelatin pills but it didnt work for me. im probably the odd ball (no comment AE =) that it wont work for ....
~No pressure, no diamonds.~
I plan on doing a lot of jello shots this weekend. My hair and nails should be fabulous!

Ha! rub it in!
so i tried out the new art pen for nails by salley hansen. only neat thing is that its water soluable so you can correct any mistakes with a swipe of the wet qtip. but even after following directions and repeating steps the paint cracks and chips within hours even if i didnt wash my hands. it stinks. almost 8 bucks and it doesnt last at all! ive emailed sally hansen with a complaint.
Did you snap any pics? How does it work? Ive never heard of that!
i cant get a good photograph now... ill try when my camera recharges. but its a pen with paint in it basically. i was using it for a french manicure and doing my own white tips. directions say to apply to painted nails only so i put on my pick base coat first, applied the white, and then you are supposed to seal with clear coat. i tried this whole process twice. the pink base coat is still perfect (using regualr polish) and the white cracked and chipped.
they also have a french manicure kit with pen and it says you can apply the paint to bare nails so it might be a different formula. if i can get my money back from this i might check that out too.
UPDATE 3/23 still no word from sally a
nd i cant get a good detailed photograph with my camera either. its blurry and ive tried playing with the settings. may need to start a cameras for dummies thread....
If it's the tips... maybe water got into it from the very top part of the nail that you don't paint? like not completely being able to 'seal' it?
which still sucks... why would they make a water soluble nail polish.... that sounds like a dumb idea...
it is kinda a dumb idea....thats what acetone is for right? well salley hansen has promised to send me a coupon to try another one of their products. i dont know what but we shall see. i normally love their polishes too and the fine tip pen was a great idea....if it only worked.
i did receive coupons for free products and got the french manicure pen tonight (um, last night) and what a difference! much, much better! the paint goes on smoothly with no chipping or cracking. i highly recommend for french manicure/pedicure. big difference in the two products. and this pen was cheaper so i got to treat myself to a new color for my toesies too!
Pics PIcs Pics!!!
Ahhhhhh, I missed all this about pens and stuff!
Yes to the pics or can I have a link?
I always keep my toe nails a dark red. I don't know the brand my manicurist uses but the color is Marlene. Sometimes in the summer I will do a French Manicure. I keep a clear coat on my medium length finger nails.
Ive never really gotten into the french manicure for toes. I dunno...just looks weird to me. But then again, feet gross me out. I dont like looking at anyones. Nor do i like pedicures, even though I get them occasionally. I just dont like feet lol
mini and i have found the perfect accessory for the beach! delsol.com (we shopped and played at a store yesterday) has color changing nail polish. it changes color in the sun. mini and i had a girly day today painting our nails and chilling at the beach! she thought it was the coolest thing!
tip: i found that the polish comes off pretty easy so maybe a clear coat? (we didnt do a clear coat because we were in a hurry. 3 year old hears beach and they are ready to go!)
seems to be the rage! mini's been using it lately. the blue to green is her fav.
so at three my child is already in with the latest trends and fashion. great! ive created a monster. now she picking out her own shoes and hair accessories.
oh and now the latest is blue. teal blues.
Ah, out of place dude coming to comment in a thread about nails.
Now, my situation is that I occasionally have long nails on the right hand and short on the left, this usually only lasts until I say “Wow, this is highly impractical” and clip them all down. Besides the fact that they are unwieldy and strange looking, they just look gnarly and gross. If I where to “MAN”icure them, how much stranger do you think it would look having long nails on one hand and short on the other that have been manicured.
Every thread I post in dies mysteriously.
