On the internet under IE & Facebook errors and Mozilla Firefox and Facebook errors there are many fixes for this same chat problem....
Mozilla Forums has stated that Mozilla Firefox requires a fix to use Facebook properly
IE Forums and Facebook have the following fixes for the chat problem...
As for the girl at the bottom post who was HACKED...there was a warning that went around a month ago about other users hacking into your acct by using your own name. ALWAYS check you friends list and REMOVE YOURSELF if you are listed...This is the new way Hackers are gaining access to our accts. You mistakenly log into it because you don't know any better and they steal your PASSWORD and take over your acct.....CAUTION!! Join Facebook HELP site for help with this. Good Luck!
I use IE 8 and have never had any problems with Facebook. I have my compatibility View Settings checked to apply to all and have Facebook listed.
I hope this helps......Amy
hello!my problem with facebook chat appeared 2 days ago, and is that it keeps writing 'no one is available for chat' even though I know that at least some of my 400 friends are online. Also, even if it seems that I am on line (green dot) no one from my friends can see me.I have tried it with different computers and different browsers,I even deactivated my account for one hour, I cleared internet cache and unchecked the sound alarms from chat options but the problem remains. Please tell what to do.
Thank you in advance
When i click on a friend in facebook chat it automatically says they are offline and no one can see that i'm online, can anyone help please?
I have the same problemm .does yours works now ?
My chat is not working either. I am online but none of my friends can see me and when I click on a friend that is online to chat it says they are offline. I have a friend that can see me online when they use their Iphone and they can chat me but when I try to chat back it says they are offline even though they arent. Does anyone know how to fix this? I have contacted facebook with no reply from them.
when i look at my chat list some of my online friends dont show up online even though they have theirs online i also dont show up on the list to them and i cant figure out how to make it so i can see them and they can see me its getting really frustrating!!! Please help!!!!
I can go on facebook but cannot get on chat, names show up on who is on my chat line, but cannot get notifications or respond to anyone
Try clearing your browser cache. if that does not help, click on the Chat Options and UNcheck the "play sound" option. if neither help, try a different browser - if you use Internet Explorer, try it in Firefox or Chrome, or visa-versa.
Thank you Hubby unchecking the "play sound" option resolved it!!!
My chat bar won't show up at all. what should i do to fix it?
i am pressing enter and my mess wont go so i have got to use a mouse hope you can help me please
There is another concern. Many a times, the message that I type and enter is shown to be sent twice in a row. On a couple of occasions, I didn't even press the enter key, but the message was shown to be sent.
I didn't have any problems with FaceBook chat until I changed from Explorer to Firefox.
There may be something to this like Hubby mentioned before - because last night I received a chat and my firefox browser froze immediately. So I logged into facebook with IE and I had no issues. Maybe something is conflicting?
If I'm typing a face book 'e-mail' message and the chat pops up, ever letter it 'caught me' typing, firefox will go 'back' that many pages. (goodbye 'e-mail' message i was typing).
It also locks up my Firefox browser so that I can't type at all. I have to minimize my Firefox browser to be allowed to type letters. Any keys hit on the key board are equivalent to hitting firefox's 'back' button.
Facebook is a very buggy application I doubt it's your computer or internet connection because i have a fairly new computer and a cable internet connection and it does that to me too. I don't know if theres anything you really CAN do other than refresh the page and keep logging in and out. hopefully sometime in the future facebook can fix this annoyance
AH, i have the same problem!! I hate it! I am trying to figure it out, i can't talk to any of my friends!
I am having exactly ther same problem, i start typing and another message will arrive and i have to click out of the box and back into the box in order to type again otherwise it will not register anyting i type!! very annoying, unfortuantely i don;t why this is happening, just wanted you to know yo are not alone!!
Im having problems with mine as well. It says that I have availible friends to chat with but the second I send out a message it says that they are offline. and it happens everytime I try to chat....
its just annoying in my opinon, so I have given up.
I know how to fix this cus the same thing happened to me for months.
First go to Account>Edit Friends>Create New List> then add one of your friends in the list
Then go back to your FaceBook chat, beside where it says other friends you can change it back to online.
hey thank you!! that fixed my problem!!!
I am having exactly the same problem. It has been happening for the last couple of weeks.
hi did you ever get the problem corrected its doing the same to me now says friends online but when i click to chat it says they are offline
i logged in to face book but it wont let me do anythink i cant write or annything and down the bottom it says im offline ??????
Go online like Hot2na said - and refresh the page or log back in so that you can write again. Good luck
just click the offline tab and it will turn you online.
Great news! It started working all of a sudden. No more problems. I think it was a bug on Facebook.
I am having similar problem with my face book chat. I thought it was due to the browser but not exactly, i have tried using google crome , internet explorer, firefox but the problem is still there.. can any one tell me what to do...
Try the Facebook chat on a different computer. If it does the same thing even on a different computer, then the problem is probably related to your Facebook account.
If chat works fine on a different computer, then the problem is related to that PC (browser version, Java version, antivirus or other security software 'blocking' it, etc).
It would be best to try on a computer with different software, not maintained by the same person, etc - for example, your work computer, or a friends.
