Hotmail login history

Is there a way I can find the history of IP addresses that have logged into my hotmail address from the past 4 years? i tried asking hotmail and they said the only way they can provide that is through a court order or something from the sort. I know Hotmail don't offer their users that service (which sucks), but is there a form of technology that provides that info? I don't know, any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Re: Hotmail login history
I recently logged into my husbands email using my router and he found out. How can I disable the Internet. I mean my router. Do I have to call my provider to disable it. It's also not in my name. My landlords name. My soon ex husband said he will report me to the police. What could I do? Please advice me

Re: Hotmail login history
To disable your interent unplug your router then call your provider and tell them to cancel your internet service. However this will not stop an investigation from proving that you did what you did. That history is etched into the the logs of your provider and Hotmail.

Also, can forum mods/administrators view your private messages (on their forum of course)?

Depends on the forum software and how it is configured, but yes, it is very possible..

Re: Hotmail login history

Nope! Hotmail has it stored, and as they told you, you can get it by court-order or police-action only.. No form of technology short of hacking into the Microsoft/Hotmail system will get you that info (which would surely end you up in jail along with millions of dollars in fines and whatever civil lawsuits Microsoft throws at you)...

Gmail however, shows you the last few few days worth of login/IP information.. not 4 years worth, but better than the ziltch you get from Hotmail..

Re: Hotmail login history
Okay, cool. One question. Whether it's hotmail, gmail, wheoever. Does any email provider have ALL login/ip information stored into it's database? From years ago even? I ain't talking about what they're willing to show you, but in their core database. I'm mostly concerned about the time betweek late '08 and late '09. Thanks btw

Re: Hotmail login history

internal storage of that type of information would be based on the individual policies of each company, and I doubt that most companies make this sort of information public.. I DO know that many companies have a policy to destroy data over xx months old (12, 24, 36, etc) unless they are required by law to keep it longer. This way, if someone comes along 3 years after the fact to sue them for something they can say "sorry, our policy is to destroy data that old" ... it's also cheaper to destroy it than to save it..

So basically, to answer your question, only the individual company can answer your question reliably..

Re: Hotmail login history

I see, because I asked hotmail in their help forum like early this month/late last month, and first they said they could only provide from 2 weeks ago, then they show me records from as way back as February this year (which I thought was odd. Then I kept pointing out the fact that they provided me info from 2 months ago when they said they could only do it from 2 weeks ago. Then people kept providing me different answers, they kept saying that they could only provide that info if a search warrant (or subpoena or whatever) was provided, so I pointed out the fact that they provided me with some info already and asked them whether they meant that they'll provide the INFO from a few years ago that i wanted and they kept saying that they can't provide me records that those were the only ones available. So I was like, "so what do you mean I need to provide a subpoena? You already shown me some records, and you said you couldn't provide me the records I was looking for", then I asked them if they meant the records I'm looking for will be provided if I show a subpoena, then they kept saying they couldn't find more records. They were just leading me around in circles.
Do you see the confusion here?

So last week I bumped my thread a few times asking them to explain themselves because they were confusing me and they havn't responded since.

I think you will never get the response you are looking for, and I would not be surprised if you kept getting different answers from different people - but one thing they will all agree on will be basically "NO" ..

Re: Hotmail login history
But what i don't understand is, I also responded with telling them I'll be willing to provide whatever documents are necessary. I asked them what I exactly need to do and they STILL didn't respond. Before I shut that email address down, I just want to know if someone hacked into my account by checking the records for unusual ip addresses. And I was away for a year last year so I'll definitely be able to tell what country I was in when checking the ip records. I even asked them for a contact phone number and they still didn't respond. I don't know.....

I think with Hotmail, you get what you pay for. And although I have no way to know for sure, I am confident in saying that the Hotmail forum administrators cannot access any private information of yours, including your emails.

Re: Hotmail login history

OH, I actually meant the administrators of forums that I've signed up to, not the Hotmail Forum Afministrators.

But How was I provided with some login history from February in the Hotmail forum then? Does that mean the admins were able to hack in?

Sorry for the questions if they're too much lol

Admins at other forums certainly do not get access to your personal email accounts unless you provide your login information to them. As to how you were able to get some Hotmail login history from February, I can't answer - only they can. and as you've already seen, i doubt you will ever get a straight answer from them.

Re: Hotmail login history

Cool.

I'm quite paranoid as you can see because I had a lot of personal stuff there on that account.
If someone was to hack into my hotmail using a proxy, would that still come up on my login history?

Oh, and I'm still arguing with the hotmail people as we speak, I've tried spelling the problem out SLOWLY, and they are still missign my point. It's like they're hiding something lol

Thanks for your help by the way, please dont beat me up lol

Yes, the IP of the proxy would still show in the history. But remember, proxy or no proxy, the IP address isnt going to tell you much, if anything.

Re: Hotmail login history
I see. Because I was in another country for a while so at least I'll be able to tell if it was hacked if I could find out which countr the IP addresses are... I dunno, and yes I'm still going back and forth with them. I want to find out some kind of contact number for hotmail because I feel to punch the guys who are sending me round in circles lol
