How to hide ---- Me "is now friends with" You on the status update.

In the status update it shows who I added and who added me. How do I turn that off? I dont want status updates blocked or turned off that I add. I just want the feature of who I added removed or blocked. How do I do this? I get a lot of adds and with the pictures of the people adding me it gives my friends ammo to comment on different things about it and I would rather them go to my list of newest friends and see for themselves instead of them opening their account and seeing who I added.

If its not possible to turn it off how I turn off my updates completely so they dont go out but still keep the ones my friends post coming in?

go to your homepage. There should be a tab called "Activity log" in the lower left hand corner of your cover photo. Click on that and it should show you what you have done including friend acceptances. There is a button to the left of that, if you click on that button it should show a pull down bar that says, "hide from timeline".

There you go!

On facebook, I hid all "is now friends with" posts that had to do with me buy clicking on the x on the post. What I now want to do, is reactivate it, and I'm at a loss. Any suggestions?

I found the answer!

Go to view all updates in the stream section on your homepage. Click on Privacy Settings which is located next to Latest Updates, Preferences, My Subscriptions. Under privacy settings - it will read "Update my friends when I" uncheck the box that says "Add new friends" and anything else you don't want showing up in your updates or notified to your friends. Problem solved!

Update* Thanks IdolMind! I didn't see your post and figured it out on my own and replied before I noticed it. Thanks again for the help.

Whoops, didn't realize you were talking about myspace and not FaceBook! I just looked at myspace and in the stream if you hit "view all" at the bottom then click on "privacy settings" on the page it takes you to, they have options on what you want to share and what you don't, I would say just uncheck the box that says "add new friends". I would think this would do the trick although I don't use myspace anymore so you may want to check it out just to make sure.

As far as I know, they don't have an option to turn off your updates. I wish they would! As for the "who is friends with who" notifications, I have my friends set to "only me" and when I preview my profile as one of my friends, I don't see any notifications of who I am now friends with, so you can do that if you don't care that nobody can see your friends at all.

Accout > Privacy Settings > Basic Directory Information: VIEW SETTINGS > see my friends list

Edit: oops... that's the facebook way... wasn't aware that myspace does a '____ is now friends with _____' in status updates...

There is no way to turn that off. But right after you add the friend you can look at your Profile and put your mouse over the info and you'll see the option to remove it.

EDIT: 7-12-10 I thought you were talking about facebook. Glad you got it all worked out.

7/27/11 Goto your profile page, scroll to the bottom. Click on Edit Options and uncheck anything that you have previously hidden. This will make it show up again. - scott
