go to 'Settings in the upper right of your Facebook screen.
click 'Privacy', and then click 'Manage'. Click 'Profile'
look for the box that reads 'Friends' drop the arrow down, click 'Customize,' then a box will appear "Who can see this" click friends only, then type in ALL names in the 'Except' box to block those people.
note: i have not tried it but the settings allow you to see what your friends see - so that will show you if it works the way you are wanting it to or not.
omg your amazing thank you so much...
When I try to follow those instructions, I don't have a "friends" setting in profile. Help???
The settings have changed at facebook and now the whole world gets to see your friends - NO WAY to make it private anymore. Po'd.
click on your facebook name, top right hand side. This will bring up your wall, info, settings, etc and will show your picture, information and friends. Look at your friends section and you will see what looks like a pencil, click on that and it will bring up a box. Uncheck the box that says "show friend list to everyone" Only you and your friends will be able to see your friends list.
does not hide them from your other friends. only hides them from non-friends. so it only helps half way.
facebook’s own guidelines are inaccurate. specifically, when they say “your friend list is always visible to you and your friends,” this is very misleading!
if I check the privacy box, my friends are concealed: not only from strangers, but from EVERYONE. only MUTUAL friends can be seen by my friends, via “see all,” on my profile. (one exception: the 6/9/12 friends pictured remain visible]
this is not just a quirk with my account. I have around 200 friends; most of them allow me to see their entire friends list, but more than one of them have friend lists that, when I click on "see all" on their friend list, only reveal MUTUAL friends. eg--one friend has 923 friends; only our 23 mutual friends appear when I try to "See all".
the problem with the current situation, obviously, is if you want to keep strangers from looking through your friend list, you can only do so by also keeping your friends from doing so!
Thank you so much you help me a lotttt
yh thnks babes...this was needed...to many stalkers
heyyyy i think we can't make our friends private anymore with FaceBook's new privacy settings
Yes you can.
Go To Your Profile
Scroll Down To Your Friends List
Move Your Arrow To The Right Corner (above the "See All" button) Of The Friends List Box
Click On The Pencil
Uncheck The Box (That Says "Show Friend List to everyone"
However, You Can't Hide Your Friends List From Your Friends, You Can Only Hide Them From Non-Friends
any suggestions on how to hide friends with the new privacy settings? it looks like they did away with that option!
on your profile page, on the left side, click on the pencil icon on top of your friends box. i think by default it is set to show friends. just uncheck the option to show friends to everyone.
And no-one sings me lullabies...And no-one makes me close my eyes...And so I throw the windows wide...And call to you across the sky
facebook sucks with the new privacy setting
can't hide my friends list anymore
thaaaanks that pencil thing ve' worked with me and finally ma friends are totally invisible to strangers woooow
The new facebook DOES in fact have a way to make your friends list private.
1.) Go to your profile.
2.) Scroll down to where your friends are listed on the left side of the screen.
3.) Click the little pen/pencil that is on the upper right hand side of the "Friends" bar.
4.) Un-check the option that says "show friends list to everyone."
Your friends list will now be private to anyone who is NOT your friend. This means that you and your friends are still able to view your friends list. To my knowledge you cannot change privacy settings on who can view your friends list if the person is still your friend.
Hope that helped!!
this worked! thank you sooooo much. It was driving me crazy trying to figure out how to fix this.
Thank you sooo much for your help!!! =)
