I'm being harassed with private calls. The police & my cellphone company said they cant help me. I heard about *57, tried it, doesnt work. I also heard about adding an application on my phone that can trace private calls, but I dont know if there are requirements needed on my cell to make it work. I have a blackberry but I do not have a data plan (dont know if thats what I needed to begin with). Does anyone know ANY WAY POSSIBLE for me to trace these incoming private calls to my cell? I refuse to change my phone #. I want proof of who's doing this so I can legally file for a restraining order.

If this issue has yet to be solved, you should check out trapcall.com, it cost like 5 bucks for the standard plan soon its fairly inexpensive

the carrier are to intervene on your network and from there they can trace the call....secondly not every number is traceable the other can play dirty too. There is a ore expensive way of doing that is changing your number and or mobile processor

Wait.. the cellphone company said they can't help you? Have the police contacted them? Without the police involvement or a court-order though, the cellphone company probably wont do anything..

...Your phone (or an app on your phone) will only be able to give the info from the call that you probably already see ie "private number", so I dont think any app will be able to "trace" it - and no, i dont think there is any way to trace it yourself without the aforementioned police/cellphone provider help (if i'm wrong, someone please post and tell us!)...

If you refuse to change your phone number, then it cant be all that bad? Cant you just ignore any 'private' calls? I know, it's a pain, but you may not have any other choice.. if you do give in and change your number, i suggest getting a free Google-Voice number, then connect that number to your new cellphone number - makes it much easier to block calls, screen calls, and lots more.

Re: How do I trace a private call?

Correct Hubby, The cellphone company said they cant help unless the cops or lawyers make them. I called the cops twice, the first time they said they dont handle that & to call my phone company. The second time I called the office that handles PPO's & they told me I cant get one until I can prove who's calling & since the phone company & the cops are pointing the finger at eachother as to who's in charge of handling stuff like that, Im basically left on my own with no way to fix this. Its so unfair. I know who's calling me private & yes I could change my number but that means I'm letting him off the hook. Im going to make him pay for this by getting a PPO on him & making sure this harassment is documented legally. At least Im hoping I can get him in trouble for this Sad

Re: How do I trace a private call?
Its not fair, how they take responsibility off their shoulders when someone needs help. My sis had a similar issue and she was left with no choice, other than changing her number. But I think that's not a solution. Legal action is the right thing to do, but that needs proofs, documentation and money...so are you really ready for it? Besides I am really disappointed at the techno developers, they have not been able to release us from these sort of private calls, which cause so much trouble, and mental discomfort.
