Maximum number of people you can mail at once from pop or imap is 100.
From web 500.

try dropbox... its like a virtual usb

also if you want to give the file to someone it has a "share files" option

its free if you use less than 2 GB

if you want more space i think you pay a monthly fee for larger space... it can get pretty big

Most free email providers have a size limit.

I like yousendit.com for large files. I've sent long or high-bitrate songs and music videos this way, but they have 100mb limit as do most free services on the common sites that host large files for free.

rapidshare.com is another one, 100mb limit.

These sites host the files then give you (or send the recipient) a URL where they can be downloaded. They all have a time limit, from a week to 14 days or so.

Good luck!

It also depends on the type of file you're sending. Some file types cannot be sent period due to the possibility of them being a harmful virus.

Re: how many mbs can you send through gmail? + whats a good ...

regardless of the size file you can send, there is also a risk your recipients could have limits on what they can receive.

The most reliable (and considerate) approach to transferring files is to use a file sharing system like Wonderfile http://wonderfile.com/

Its a free web based storage app, allows you to easily manage, share, organize and search your files. It also has slick features like "tag sharing" where you can provide a share link (URL) to anyone, and tag as many files as you wish to add them to that share. Giving you're recipient a bookmark-able URL that always shows current file(s) that are shared with them.

That sounds cool. I also like using yahoo - you can use the app that allows you to send BIG files. 100MB free - then more as premium.

On the extra app yahoo has, I was only allowed to use it a couple times before it wanted me to pay. I can only send 25 mb through em...

Even though I have a gmail account, I don't know much about it's sending capabilities.  I have used my hotmail account to store certain files so that I can access them from anywhere, where I have a computer located.  I also use a free file storage facility located at www.myotherdrive.com for certain files.  Unfortunately, I still haven't answered your question, but the problem might be addressed by using one of the free file storage sites available, depending on several factors to include, the capacity of the computer you're using, internet access, etc, etc.  At any rate, I would keep the files as small as possible.

Your best bet would be uploading the files to a sharing site then deleting them after they're done downloading it(at least for files bigger than 20-25mb generally)
