Re: My Touchpad Stopped Working....

This is the manual to your laptop (.pdf file may take a minute to download).

Replacing the palmrest is on page 56, but you will need to remove quite a few components beforehand.

After you look that link over, take a deep breath and ask yourself, "can I live with just a USB or bluetooth Mouse?". If the answer is no, then proceed with a zen-like patience. ;-)

For what it is worth, I most likely fried my laptop's mobo at 38,000 feet and will be embarking on basically the same adventure to determine if that is the case.

There's a BIOS functionality that enable/disable your mouse too. You have to restart your computer (do not shutdown just restart) and hit F2 button to enter the BIOS. Look under the "Main" menu and find the "function key behavior". Highlight it with your arrows keys and hit enter. Select "function keys" from the menu and press enter. Then press F10 and select "yes" to save your settings, and you are done.

I had this same problem - the touchpad just working without explanation. I tried everything including reinstalling the drivers but I just figured it out. On my Gateway Netbook the Fn7 button turns the pad on and off - I had no idea and I must have accidently hit the button. I hope this works for you. Joel

Thanks a ton. I was already worried about the cost of getting it fixed or buying a new one. Now that I look back at the hours spend trying to figure it out I feel really stupid. Thanks again.
