A soft reset would most likely work but since you don't have a lock-button, you can't do that. The only other option i know of (without restoring/wiping the whole thing) is to let the battery die, then plug it into a power source.
Plug it in and leave it plugged-in. If it does not turn on within an hour, something is seriously wrong with it.
If your iPhone won't respond at all and appears dead, try this:
Connect phone to charger on computer. Open iTunes. Hold On/Off button and Home button down at the same time. After about 15 to 20 seconds, release the On/Off button and continue to hold down the Home button (sometimes up to another 30 seconds). Your phone will go into recovery mode through iTunes. Sometime you may have to try this a few times and try holding the buttons down for a longer period of time. It will work and I have had success doing this with quite a few iPhones. Once this is done you can restore from a previous backup or restore to a new phone, through iTunes.
If you are only having trouble turning you phone on and off - squeeze the top of your phone just below the on/off button and then push the button. This works well to get the phone turned on and off.
I want to know how i can turn on my iphone 4s without the sleep/wake power button.
I have a jail broken iPhone 4s and my sleep/wake button doesn't work. The thing is that it shut off on me yesterday after showing that it had very low battery left and to connect the charger. I connected the charger and the phone vibrated 2 times & the screen had the red battery image then it shows me the silver apple logo image and goes to the "slide to unlock" screen for like 2 seconds and shows me i have 1% battery but i was not able to slide the bar and the screen changes to black with the circular loading sign. I tried today and same thing happened but suddenly before i posted this comment my phone turns on it was at 2% and i was able to slide the bar and i went to go get my sim card and by the time i got back the phone had that circular loading sign and goes back to the red battery sign. I also have the front and the back glass cracked which im hoping to replace soon.
Please help ASAP i really need to get my iPhone working i need it for a project im working on. Last time this happened to my iPhone i came to this website and it had all the info but as of now i dont see anything which is why im commenting. I've searched the web relentlessly and ive opened up the iphone trying to figure out what i can do.
Have you tried using a different charger and cable?
If the same thing happens on another charger and wire, then he's right, that thing is bustet or it needs a new battery.
If you plug in the iPhone to a power source (like to charge it), it should turn on.. Unless it's broken.
assuming you let it charge for a while (at least an hour) and the charger is good and assuming that it just turned off by itself (meaning something bad happened)? I would guess the only thing left to do is pay a repair guy or buy a new one?
