1 and 1 hosting?

We have had our agency website completely redesigned and our are going live by end of day....hopefully. Our designer wants to move our hosting and domain register to 1and1.

Does anyone have any experience with them?  Is it user friendly? Easy? Reliable? Awful?

I have read both good and bad about
1 and 1, so i guess on average they're ok.. I would not recommend using them (or any) as both your registrar and your host - too much power.

Power...meaning if something goes down at their site?

My two cents? Ive heard nothing but bad things about 1 and 1. I wouldnt register and host at the same location. If your hosting goes down or disappears (this DOES happen, hosting centers simply disappear) then you will lose everything- including access to change your DNS servers to move your domain and you could lose the ability to even transfer domain registration to a new registrar.

Hubby has some good hosting companies he recommends. I work in a different...field, so my choice of hosts is limited. :)
