2 OS are installed on my computer???

A couple of years ago i reformatted my computer due to a nasty virus. my comp gives me the options to save files and instead of losing everything since i couldn't save i pressed ok. after the reformat i only had 12gb-- i have a 35gb drive. i've reformatted before and it always said you have 30gbs available. anyways, the folder that had all my saved documents in it is undeleteable because it has a ntuser.dat file and it's hogging up almost 15gb. i don't know what to do or how to fix it, reformat again or what? this would be such a hassle. im wondering if there is a easier way like go into safe mode or is that to risky?

If you cant delete the file because NTUSER.DAT is in it, that probably means that NTUSER.DAT is open/in use, which probably means it is part of your account. Have you gone through that folder to see what's in it? You should be able to move everything important to a new/different folder, then delete all folders except the particular one that has NTUSER.DAT.

If you are absolutely certain that there is nothing in that folder that you need to save, you should be able to log-on to the computer with a different username and delete that folder.. This means that you may have to create a new account, log off, etc - how you do all that depends on the version of Windows you're using.

Re: 2 OS are installed on my computer???

i've gone through the folder competely and there is nothing in there except for a few subfolders that all have NTUSER.DAT in them and i can't delete them because it's in them. The main folder also has a NTUSER.DAT. I will try creating a new account on the comp and deleting the folder from there.. Is there any possibility it could completely make my computer go wacky deleting the folder?

What should I do if it still doesn't delete like that?

I am using XP.

Anything is possible with Windows, so make sure that anything important is backed-up. Can you delete all the other files in those folders?

i already deleted all the files in the folders, i just can't delete the folders. every time i try and delete the subfolders it says " cannot delete because flash09.ocx is currently running. the main folder is cause of the NTUSER.

ok - so now i'm confused..
it says it cant be deleted becuase of flash09.ocx - NOT because of NTUSER.DAT? who/what/where says it cant be deleted because of NTUSER.DAT??

..you said you deleted all the other files - how much space are these folders taking up now that you have deleted everything except the un-deletable files?

and.. were you able to go in under another account, or in safe-mode and delete them?

Uninstall everything that has to do with Adobe Flash (Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs).  Restart and try to delete the thing.  If it deletes, go to Adobe and reinstall Flash.  If not, go into the System Configuration Utility (Start>Run>msconfig) and in the Startup tab, uncheck everything Adobe.  Restart and try to delete it again.

The folder is called " Saved" there are two folders inside of "Saved" called "1" and "2" when I try to delete one or two it says " cannot delete because flash09.oxc is running". When i try to delete "saved" altogether it says folder cannot be deleted because of NTUSER.DAT. The saved folder is taking up 15GB. i haven't tried to go in through another account yet because i've got so much important stuff to backup and haven't been home much lately. i will try it tonight i'm thinking and let you know what happens. i think it's just a really odd that i can't delete it all and frustrating.

and also, there use to be other files in "1" and "2" but those were all deleteable. everything is completely empty, i just am not able to delete the folders themselves because of what i explained.

I just thought I'd throw this in... if ever you can't delete something on Windows because of an error (such as some process that's running), you can use Unlocker... basically once installed, you right click whatever you're trying to delete and go down the menu to Unlock (or whatever it says now) and continue through until you can do whatever you're trying to do (in this case, delete)... it's a miracle worker for pesky files and folders that use some unnecessary process...

Disclaimer/Warning/Don't-Yell-At-Me-If-Unlocker-Breaks-Your-Computer:  But if you delete something your computer needs to function... well... you can probably imagine why you need to be careful...

ALSO... if you use this, go through the install process carefully and make sure you uncheck any boxes that try to trip you up into installing some stupid toolbar or some other freeware you don't want.
