Re: 808 Ghosts

I love EVPs. They usually are the only thing on the shows that actually freak me out.

Re: 808 Ghosts

Uh, I hate to disappoint you, but the show shouldn't even be on T.V. It's a very big disgrace to the paranormal research/investigation society. First of all, one of the investigators admitted to suffering from a hangover live on T.V. A cardinal rule for "real" investigators is you are not to be under the influence of any alcohol or drugs within a 24 hour period of the investigation. Second, the lead investigator used another investigator as a "guinea pig" after she said she was scared and wanted to leave. If you look at 808 Ghost's handbook, they went against their own rules. (Hmmmm) Also, they claimed the place to be haunted before the even carried out their investigation. The other co-founder, who is supposedly psychic, gathered information before hand and also lead the client on before the investigation started. Before they aired their show, they were known as the "grave" hunters. If you watch T.A.P.S. and are a paranormal enthusiast, you would know from the first segment that these guys are fakes and are in it for the fame. Like I said, the general public is totally unaware of the damage that this group is doing to this field that other groups are working so hard to gain credibility for. Again, sorry, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and I, along with many others, are sticking to this one.

Damit.  If there one one thing I hate, it's a fake show about the science of paranormal research.

I don't think Vash is endorsing this group. At least I don't think any of us are taking it that way. He is just our resident guide to all things Hawaii; this show is just a way for him to expose us all to some of the local folclore.

Thanks for letting us know some of the background on the show. It is an interesting topic.

Re: 808 Ghosts

I know guys, sorry to bum everyone's trip, but I've been an avid Paranormal fan for years and I was looking forward to this show. But when I saw it, honestly, I wanted to throw something at my T.V. I know a lot of paranoraml researchers and investigators and the strongest word that one of them used when I mentioned what I had witnessed was "blasphemous." Paranoraml researchers are working so hard to gain credibility to this field that is not accepted by the scientific community and people like 808Ghost just do help out. I'm a neutral guy also, so I don't want to endorse anyone, but if you are in Hawaii and want to see the works of a hard working Paranormal research group, search on line and you'll see this group. They aren't in it for the fame and are pretty humble. They just want to help those in need. Now that is Paranormal research with aloha. They are endorsed by groups out in the mainland and are recognized for the work that they do. The difference is Dave Hisaka has the connections to be on T.V. 808 has apparantly been around for a while but only started resurfacing after this other group turned up and started poppping up on youtube, the Honolulu Advertiser, and Honolulu Magazine. Well, if you'd like to see what my fellow colleagues replied to my mentioning of this group, check out this forum at http://high.site-forums.com/ghostly-tv-f20/808ghost-808-ghost-t386.htm. Aloha all.

I don't make it a habit to respond to such negative comments by friends of other PI groups, but the comments below are scary twisted and because of it, I feel the need to defend some very intelligent and good, people. Your opinions are your opinions, but you should be informed, there is no right or wrong, and especially "cardinal rules," in Paranormal Research. Making up rules, other than having Code of Ethics, only narrows and stunts the field of research. Paranormal Research has been discounted as true science for far, too, long. Disparaging remarks, like those below, continue to make fools of everyone, in the Paranormal Community.

If you care to know, then here are some facts, if not, continue thinking what you think - just don't tell others what to think.

First of all, Charlie, our Tech Specialist/Manager, always claims to have a hangover, but really, he's a pushover. Charlie will have one beer and get tipsy. He wasn't drunk or hung-over, the night of that investigation - it was a comedic statement. If anything, he was tired from working as a photographer the night before. Geez, if I recall, even Steve of GH made a "hung-over" comment once. Lighten up on Charlie. He's uber-intelligent, trustworthy, and a responsible person, and would have told me or Dave that he shouldn't participate in the investigation. We don't ask our investigators to stop living their lives.

Secondly, our newest investigator, Lexi, didn't want to leave - she said she was scared of a particular room in that investigation. However, the reason we're all investigators is, we can get scared like anyone else, but the difference is, we desire to "know." Lexi also said, "but I'm curious..." and she went to the room on her own accord. That makes her an excellent investigator. It's amazing how Ghost Hunters can send one of their female investigators into an active area - alone - and not get flack. Seriously, ask if you have questions or concerns. Don't spread false rumors - about anyone.

808 Ghosts didn't claim the property was haunted before that investigation. We didn't claim the property was "haunted" -after- investigation. We did say, there is paranormal activity at the property. It's a responsibility of any paranormal investigation group to inform clients when there is evidence of paranormal activity. And evidence is what we have.

Yes, our investigators are trained in cemeteries, and other "public" haunted locations. We don't usually take someone, with little to no field experience, into our clients' private homes. So, where else does one get field training? Even Ghost Hunters trained in cemeteries - it was on an episode or two. It is terribly irresponsible of any investigator without hands-on-training to poke around in someone's home, and possibly stir up spirit activity, and NOT know how to handle or deal with it. Terribly irresponsible, and I HOPE no amateur group in Hawaii does it!

Look, I've been around a long time, I'm already feeling too old for this job, but I know the ins and outs of paranormal research. If you had true concerns you would've contacted me.

As far as "in it for the fame"... After years (since 1992) of discreet paranormal investigations, and helping people who are scared to death to live in their homes, doing a "show" came as a shock. It took months to agree to to it. After speaking with my closest spiritual advisors, I came to the conclusion that there are many - too many - people in Hawaii, who are suffering from possible paranormal harassment. After deep consideration, and internal arguments, I decided my spiritual advisors were right - that people need to know there is real help here for them AND to exploit those parasitic entities so others can see there is a way to deal with them.

Money? We haven't seen a red-penny. Everything, ALL the equipment, ALL of the tools I use in research, have been paid for by, and bought out of, our own wallets. 808 Ghosts offers it's service completely free of charge, and yes, I'd like the series to make a little money - to help pay for more equipment. Either that, or get adopted by Ben Stein or someone....
We're not rich, regardless of what anyone thinks, we all work hard for the thousands of dollars we put into this. That's dedication. That's passion. Dave and "connections?" It wasn't Dave who got the series, 808 Ghosts was approached by OC16. Oh, and, the traffic news? It's weird, you call him a "celebrity," I suppose he is, but it's just a job to Dave. He really wants to do stand-up comedy. Go figure.
He'll kill me when he finds out I said that...

When I said ok to the show, I thought this would be a great opportunity to create a true 'ohana of local, paranormal investigators and groups. I'd love nothing more than to meet others in person, participate in each other's investigations and feature them on the 808 Ghosts series. As for "who came first" - does it matter? Another group here stated plainly that they've been trying investigations for less than a year. 808 Ghosts - Paranormal Investigation Team was established in the summer of 2007, and I've been conducting research since 1992. The fact is, we're at it, there's finally some interest here, and hopefully we'll ALL contribute to, this science.

If the show offends anyone, I don't know what to say, because 808 Ghosts' purpose is to let more people know - there is honest help for them, with experienced paranormal researchers. It's the job of producers, to entertain you.

Re: 808 Ghosts

Below there was comment about TAPS never using an investigator as bate. Also about not sending in an investigator by themselves. Uh, TAPS does that all the time. Although the funny thing about sending some one in alone is that they aren't alone if I see it. There was a cameraman (or camerawoman) with them. I've seen Tango, Kris and I think even Steve do stuff alone. They use Kris to provoke spirits that may not like woman, say old time soldiers.

As far as whether or not 808 ghosts helps or hurts paranormal research, I say it doesn't matter. You see I'm a skateboarder. On Mtv I have to watch Life of Cryin uh I mean Life of Ryan. Life of Ryan is about Ryan Sheckler, pro skateboarder. The show sucks but he can skate his teenage butt off. People hate his show because it shows skateboarding in a negative light. It also exposes millions of kids to skateboarding. That is a good thing. I have been around long enough to know that more kids means more money means I don't to drive to the next town for a skateshop to buy one bolt.

Good to hear from both sides of this story though so thanks for joining GuG and thanks for the other side Elexis.

I don't want to die without any scars.

Re: 808 Ghosts

well that's the whole thing.  if you see it on camera than the investigators aren't alone.  so they do follow their rules.  i love TAPS.

i also like getting Elexis's input.  mahalo nui loa Elexis for taking the time to post!

Re: 808 Ghosts

Yeah, they mentioned having a camera crew with them in the last live special (the interviews after) I guess a lot of people write them about how they let their investigators wander around alone.

Re: 808 Ghosts

Ahhhh, the infamous Psychic has come out to retaliate. Well missy, your little amount of years does not impress me so no use throwing that in my face. As far as 808 being approached by OC16, yet another lie. I've already written to OC16 to confirm that they do not solicit new shows. It was 808 who approached OC16 and I have the email to prove that statement. Would you like me to post it? I've been around for awhile now, and I know the real deal when I see it. You guys have soooooo much to learn but just can't admit it. That's the problem with all the groups popping up here and there, thinking that they can "play" T.A.P.S. and do things like T.A.P.S. and say, "But T.A.P.S. did it this way." If you've done any research at all, you'd know that T.A.P.S. are just babies compared to the people I know. There are so much groups out there that have been to the places that T.A.P.S. has visitied long before they came along to put them on T.V. There are groups that have way more experience and have been through way more experiences.

About this other group, don't worry, I've been keeping an eye on them also. I've conversed with them and believe me, they know a lot more than you think they do. The things that set them apart that I see are...humbleness...the willingness to learn...true willingness to help...and true "ohana." Please do not use that word when you willingly turn people a way when they just want to connect with you.

Well, just as you have your opinion, so do I, and I freely chose to offer mine to the man who began this thread. Believe me, I am not the only one who has seen (on the show) what I stated so keep on defending a way. It's no use. I don't know why you didn't see this coming???
