A method for Firefox users to view Media Player files (plug-in required to view page correctly)

I've recently ran across an add-on that solves the annoying issue of opening files extensions that are related to Windows Media Player.

That's the one where you get the message that you must download the plug-in to display page correctly. So, you download everything under the sun and still can't get the plug-in to properly play. It's related to Firefox not allowing shockwave extensions in the browser window.

You can go the long way and follow the advise given by Mozilla/Firefox which is here:

http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=206213

Or, you can download a simple add-on for Firefox that opens Windows Media Player in a separate window, which is here:

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/446/

It also has the extra added benefit of showing a little black box where hidden embedded trackers are located on Myspace profiles.

Take care

Thank you Ashton. I'm going to go the easy route. I've been having a problem with that.

You're welcome;-)

It was annoying. I tried all this "advanced" stuff for like half a day, downloaded multiple codec packs...yeesh.

The maker of that extension needs a pat on the back.
