About AOL/AIM

Is there a way to tell if somebody is really not invisibile for AIM? (I don't think basic AOL programs have that, but the AIM does). Yahoo messenger was easy to figure out, but for AIM I have no clue. Also, I've already done the thing where you create a different name just to see if the person has blocked you, which is not the case. Invisible or not? The one program I have seen out there isn't anything.

Well, it depends what version of AIM you have, it since has been fixed with the upgrades, but if you never upgraded, you used to be able to open up a screen like you were going to send that person an IM. In that box it would say XXX is available, or is online, even if they looked as if they were not.

Kinda sucks that they fixed it, but maybe if you still have an older version....

Did you try looking at his/her AIM profile? I can always see the profiles of people who are under invisible, but I can never see profiles if they're simply not online.

Naw, the person doesn't have a profile. Seems pretty typical today of people just downloading AIM from the net but not creating a profile- thats what I did!! Thanks for the suggestion though =0)
