Access facebook pics through friends' wall?

I have noticed that whenever I see "xxx has commented on yyy's photo," that if I click on the word "photo" I am able to view that person's entire album.  This has worked on every single one I have tried.  I find it hard to believe that not ONE of these people had their photos set to private??  Is there a way to keep people from seeing all of MY photos?  I tried looking for this topic and could not find it.  Sorry in advance if this topic has already been covered.  Thanks.  : )

They will be set to 'everyone' or 'friends of friends'. To make sure this is not the case with your own photos just go onto the album's privacy and make sure it says 'friends only' Think that should do the trick

Yes, as long as your photo's are set to "friends only", your photo's will not show on your friends wall if they had commented on it.   However if your photo's are set to "friends of friends" your photo's will show up on your friends wall as been commented and their friends can see them...

I think you can see any picture regardless of privacy settings - only IF you have the direct url for a photograph. That link for "photos" takes you to that direct url.

There may be a setting in your privacy settings - for wall and news feed - to prevent things from getting published from wall or feed. If you are uber paranoid about people seeing the pics - don't let people comment your pictures so that way the direct url isn't put on your wall for anyone to click. hope this helps and I haven't got it backwards LOL :)

Thank you for the responses...MariaO, I think you are right.  That link shows up on friends' walls regardless of privacy settings.  So it doesn't matter if you have your photos set to be viewed by friends only.  As soon as somebody comments on your photograph, anybody who is friends with THAT person can click on the link to your photo and view all of the pics in that album....Only paranoid because I have pics of my child on there.  Again, thanks for the help!

No, I had double checked by adding a fake to my husbands profile, and checked his wall posts of the photo comments that he had placed onto my pictures that are marked "friends only", and my fake could not see those.  But my profile can see the wall posts of my pictures being commented by him.

I know that he has also commented on others photos' but it only shows a few, where people have not marked the privacy settings to "friends only" and had either left it as "everyone, or friends of friends"

Most people do not know that they need to set EVERYTHING to "friends only" pictures, notes, your whole profile, ect....     They think that they set their privacy settings on the main page to private that no one else will see... oh, little do they know...

Yes - I'm going to stand by my previous post because since I'm the curious type - I had to look more into this when someone stated yesterday that privacy settings do matter. No matter what photo privacy settings a person has - when a friend comments on one of your pics- that link goes on friends' wall UNLESS the friend that commented has changed settings to prevent photo comments from showing on walls - which is done under privacy settings for news feed and wall:

There is no way to control if someone that comments a picture has that box unchecked or not.

To ensure that I was on the right track about photo privacy settings - I went as far as to changing photo settings to "me only" after making a comment to a photo - refreshed the page - and the link still showed up allowing anyone to click on it and view the pictures. Facebook is so complicated LOL!! :)

That box is only for the "Highlights area" Not wall posts.   It will show up that you had posted a comment, but test it out with a fake.  I tested it, by adding the fake only to my husbands profile and did not see any wall posts of the comments he placed onto my photos.

It includes the "recent activity" in walls and that is where the link shows up.

Trust me - I did test it out between two accounts. I saw the "link" we are talking about - then unchecked the box and refreshed - the link then disappeared. Then I checked the box - refreshed - and the link came back. Photo Privacy settings do not prevent that link from showing up. It is that box that does it. It sounds like gaw8888 should test it out out to be sure since they don't want people seeing pictures of their kids. Sometimes two people can be so sure of their ideas - but in the end it is gaw8888 that really should test it out because of their concerns. Good luck :)

Re: Access facebook pics through friends' wall?

Thanks for your help...I just tested it out myself and the link to my photo did show up on the fake account's wall when that account commented on one of my photos.  2nd fake account was able to view my entire album by clicking on that link even though that account wasn't my "friend."  Crap, I thought facebook was all about privacy.  So I took the pics down of my son.  That just weirds me out a little.  Thanks again!

Re: Access facebook pics through friends' wall?

the only "solution" I have found as far as privacy, is if someone comments on an individual photo, I move the photo into a new album by itself.  Yes, it is a pain that it is then not contained within an album with a set of photos, but @ least that way people can only click/link to that one commented on photo and not the entire album of photo's.
