Are You A Giver or Receiver?

Are You A Giver or Receiver? Compliments. Love to give them. Not every day all of the time, but when appropriate. I don't care if you are a stranger, family, friend, or someone I will never see again. If you are wearing a great pair of shoes and I see you in public, I'm going to approach you and say, "Ooooh...great shoes!"  Why? Because I can. No, I do not expect anything in return. I'm not after your boyfriend or husband, first born, or dad....I just have no problem giving/paying a compliment. What I have found is that 70% of the general public do not know how to receive a simple compliment. They suddenly feel put on the spot and compelled to return the gesture. A simple "thank you" or acknowledgment will suffice.

Compliments are positive things to say, Compliments can make someones day.

So listen closely, take my advice. Practice giving compliments and you will feel nice!

I've always taught my kids to pay compliments and feel accomplished as a parent when I hear my adult children give compliments. And when I see and hear mini me give a compliment, especially to a stranger - - it makes me feel so good too!  So are you a giver or receiver?

I grew up around a bunch of girl that were all really jealous of each other...whenever they gave people compliments it usually meant they were making fun of them......when I give a compliment I try to always be sincere and when I receive one I always try to be sincerely thankful instead of rolling my eyes and saying ehh thanks...or something like that :)

i remember that high school game! i agree that some compliment givers are not genuine, but i can usually spot those dead on. then i struggle with myself as to whether or not i want to call the person on the carpet Embarassed!

I like to give compliments but its nice to get them too of course. One thing I usually do is cheer someone up with a nice compliment if I can tell that they are having a bad day. Im just like that. I see alot of people everyday during my dental schooling and it makes me feel happy to say positive things and that is good for everyone involved.   Kiss

I think I'm both. I, like you, will totally walk up to someone and tell them how fabulous their dress/purse/earrings are but I can take one as well. I mean, honestly I always feel kind of awkward but I just say thank you and go on. I hate when you tell someone, "Wow you really look great" and they're like "No I don't". I should just be like "Now that you mention it you do look like you've gained some weight, and this humidity is really messing with your hair, plus I think you smeared your mascara and that dress is about 2 sizes too small, or maybe you're two sizes too big". I always thought it would be hysterical to just agree wildly with someone who does that when you compliment them. I don't think I ever could though, but I have told close friends before that it's annoying and seemingly rude to deny a compliment.

I love this. I had a friend who ALWAYS said stuff like that even when she looked great. So i started saying things like this to her and she stopped saying that real fast..now she knows how to accept a compliment very well.

I LOVE to give compliments! I just love the smile on people's faces after you compliment them, they look so happy! I love to see people smiling and happy, and if I could do that, I will, of course genuine compliments....no sugar coatin here!

Neither :( My ex husband totally tore down my self confidence, so I can't take a compliment at all, and I seem to think they make others as uncomfortable as they make me, so I tend not to give them.. but I'm working on that.

Be yourself...... Everyone else is taken!
