Body Casting: Torso

I'm nearly done designing our sitting room and am in need of an unusual art piece. So I/we decided to do a torso body cast image of me. We will do from my hips to my shoulders. Hands covering breasts. It is not as difficult as it first appears when you hear it.  I bought the kit online at Artmold.com a few days ago. It has arrived this morning. I'm torn between leaving it white like the plaster, or painting it bronze. Husband of mine wants to paint it black with a high gloss finish. Sounds nice as well.

After researching it, I found out how very popular this process is for expecting mothers. What a wonderful gift and experience to have for a lifetime. Has anyone here on GuG done this or have been part of the process?

Here is a short video of the process. The ballerina model is dressed in a body leotard.

they are so beautiful! i love the bowls! maybe i can incorporate my minis hand on my belly that way i might not feel so guilty about not doing a cast of "her" belly.

our finished product should look like this one -- only on a solid teak base. this is my inspiration and what got me started. it was going to be a valentine gift to husband. then i got too damn excited and couldn't keep it contained!

thank you Snazzy. that's right! and i am very happy with what i've been blessed with. should someone notice a resemblance, then sure we'll tell them. that is not likely though as no one here has seen me....bare!

Don't feel guilty!  You should really consider it if you like it :)I would love to do something like this with a pregnancy, always thought it was a cool idea.

I saw mother/daughter kits on that site too.  The handprints looked great. :)
