i had the mass air flow sensor replaced in mine when it did that, but it kept doing it so i brought it back and they said they probably had a bad part, replaced it again and haven't had any problems since then.
I finally found the problem!! It was a vacuum leak..I can't believe i spent $200 bucks trying to fix a $3 problem (that's how much new hose cost) crazy huh!!!! But yea my car is running good as new, crazy how much a vacuum leak can affect your car!! Well anyway, thanks for everybody's input!!!!!!!!!!
this happened to me on my 89 chevy nova. (loved that car!0 but mine wsa the alternator if i remember right. problems like this are hard to determine and usually cost a bundle to find and fix. sorry it took you a wad of cash but glad you have your ride back.
i have a 88 pontiac grand am when it gets just below half tank mark it wants to die but will start up again if i but gas in it just past half tank runs fine
Check for a neutral switch
Check for a neutral switch or a bad throttle position sensor
Take it to another mechanic
Put a few table spoons of running alcohol in your gas tank.it might be water in the fuel and the alcohol will get rid of the water.
ICM bad
