correction: are NOT my neighbors

Re: Christmas Caroler Etiquette

The ironic part is I would legitimately rather NOT have someone like you as my neighbor.

Give me the sarcastic, neighbor with a sense of humor over the person who sounds like that nut job from Jesus Camp any day.

Christmas Carolers were never a thing anywhere remotely near where I lived to the point I never thought it was a real thing. I'm all for giving out candy on Halloween but the notion of having to stand by my door in the dead of winter and listen to people belt out the same songs I've heard a thousand times in every shopping location for the past 2 months and pretend I'm grateful for the disturbance is ludicrous to me. I'd pretend I'm not home.

Thank you for helping people put this tradition in to perspective!

I just had 5 beautiful teenage girls come to my door singing "Jingle Bells". I was so surprised and after one verse I said, "How nice..." Then the leader asked me to buy a discount card. Boy, did I feel suckered. Fortunately, I had no money available because I forgot to get cash back at the market. So I told them I don't have any cash on hand at the moment. And they all frowned and walked away.

Turn off the porch-lights and hope they get the hint, just like at Halloween.

We always give them a Christmas food treat like hot coco or gingerbread.
