Alright ladies, here's another one for you. What would be a good song to use for my dance with my father? I realize that this is a HIGHLY personal choice, but I'm having a hard time coming up with a really good song. There are a lot of good songs out there, but they are also extremely overdone. I'd like something a bit more classic, but nothing is coming to mind.
What did you dance to with your father?
Well hmm are you and your dad close? Honestly, if my dad could have his way hed want to dance to something from the 3stooges...or maybe the looney toones theme (charlie brown, maybe). *sigh* But I just cant imagine dancing to ANYTHING sappy with my dad. We dont have 'that type' of relationship. I get my sarcastic side from him haha.
"If lightning strikes twice, I dont want to be standing next to you! "
When I got married my biological father walked me halfway down the aisle and then handed me off to my stepfather who walked me to my husband. I decided this way because my biological father brought me into this world but my stepfather is who delivered me to my husband as the person I became. I danced to "the man he didn't have to be" with my stepfather and "daughters" with my biological father because we are not as close. I heard a song a few years back by Heartland called "I loved her first" that was really pretty..
We were practically inseparable when I was growing up. We'd have our moments, sure, but for the most part we were very close. Even when I started to hit the dreaded puberty years we still had a good relationship. It wasn't until my little sister hit puberty that everything shattered and did a 180. She nearly destroyed my relationship with myself and my father. It got so bad that I moved out right after high school because let literally were on the point of killing one another. I didn't speak to my father for almost 6 year after that. Since then we have managed to slowly put our relationship back together. It's not what it was, but it's on it's was.
I am not only the eldest and "daddy's little girl," but I'm also the son my father never had. People are amazed at how close and tight we once were (and I know we'll be that way again, we're already getting back there). Even my Man has commented on how close & strong our relationship is, and how much my father cares & thinks about me. It's kind of an unspoken thing that I'm his favorite. I think that's were most of the problems arose from when my sister's hormones peaked & she went crazy ... I think it was jealousy.
Anyway, I've probably said more than I needed to. ~L~

Then you Should definately listen to "I loved her first"...
Lyrics
Look at the two of you dancing that way
Lost in the moment and each others face
So much in love you're alone in this place
Like there's nobody else in the world
I was enough for her not long ago
I was her number one
She told me so
And she still means the world to me
Just so you know
So be careful when you hold my girl
Time changes everything
Life must go on
And I'm not going to stand in your way
But I loved her first and I held her first
And a place in my heart will always be hers
From the first breath she breathed
When she first smiled at me
I knew the love of a father runs deep
And I prayed that she'd find you someday
But it's still hard to give her away
I loved her first
How could that beautiful woman with you
Be the same freckle face kid that I knew
The one that I read all those fairy tales to
And tucked into bed all those nights
And I knew the first time I saw you with her
It was only a matter of time
But I loved her first and I held her first
And a place in my heart will always be hers
From the first breath she breathed
When she first smiled at me
I knew the love of a father runs deep
And I prayed that she'd find you someday
But it's still hard to give her away
I loved her first
From the first breath she breathed
When she first smiled at me
I knew the love of a father runs deep
Someday you might know what I'm going through
When a miracle smiles up at you
I loved her first
I love the lyrics. I'll look up the song to hear what the melody sounds like. Thank you.
