13 Hours Online? That's It?

Perhaps I just spend entirely too much time on the internet.  Between work and play, 13 hours online might be my daily total.  But, according to this article, the average person only spends 13 hours a week surfing the net.  While 14% (only 14%) are on 24 hours or more weekly.

I may need to get a life.

(Although I was CERTAIN I had a pretty social one.)

Market research company Harris Interactive thinks the 13 hour weekly average may partly be due to the recession.  I suppose it is cheaper to stay home, have yourself a home cooked meal and some cheap drinks, while checking out your favorite sites or watching your favorite show on Hulu, than it is to meet up with friends for dinner, movies, cocktail-induced debauchery, or what have you...But, is it just me, or does that make the 13 hours seem even more below average?

Or mabye I also need to just back away from the computer...Slowly...

NONE of us are super lame, we're all uber cool (our badges say so :P) I think we're just ahead of everyone else. One day the rest of the world will catch up with us!

I'm CERTAIN that I spend at least 13 hours a day online.  Basically, if I'm awake, the computer's on, and the web is open.  Whether I'm actually sitting there paying attention, or if I'm in the kitchen doing dishes or off vacuuming is up for guesses, though.  I think the internet has become "background noise" in some way, kinda like leaving CNN on the TV all day.

Yah so I just did the math...

I use the internet at work- its actually part of my job to use it, so thats 8 hours. Then when I get home im on for about 5 hours. So basically only times im NOT online is when im sleeping and driving to/from work.

I'm definitely over the 13 hr a week mark. Pretty sure I'm over the 13 hr a day mark too!!

*shrug* I know a LOT of people *my* age that can barely figure out how to turn a computer on... their time online is pretty much limited to managing their iPod and checking their email/myspace, not without difficulty.  I think because we get used to knowing each other, we seem to forget that the majority of people actually spend more time watching TV and only go to Best Buy to pick up a new DVD... I still get confused when people don't understand how to use a flash drive.

The rest of the world just hasn't quite realized how awesome the Internet really is.

I'm astounded at the amount of people that not only don't know how to use one, but don't know what it even is!

I think I average about 30 hours a week on the internet. 13 seems really low, and I know a lot of people who spend WAY more time on the internet than I do.

does just leaving it on all the time count? i turn my computer on in the morning and it stays that way until i sleep regardless of whether or not i'm in front of it.
