Facebook: Deactivated or Blocked?

I have a friend who recently became "invisible" to me on Facebook: Can't find her in the search box, on my friends list or on any of our mutual friends' lists. She sent me a message a while back, so I went to see if it was still in my inbox...it is, but her picture is gone and her name appears in black letters without an active link to her page.

After doing some research, it appears that this could only mean one of two things:
1. She deactivated/deleted her account, or
2. She blocked me.
3. when I log into my fake account, search for our mutual friends and look through THEIR friend lists, she doesn't appear. It's like she's just not there anymore.

Short of asking our mutual friends about it, is there any way to distinguish between the two?

...Sorry, one more thing to add. I was playing around with the settings on my fake account and found that blocking myself (real account) made it so that I couldn't see my fake account in another person's "Info", i.e. the "in a relationship with ___." It used to say "in a relationship with H.C.", now it just says "in a relationship". Clear as mud? Regarding the person in my original question: I can still see her name in people's "info" as a sibling, but the link to her page is dead. Does this mean her account has been deleted?

(I'm freaking out a bit because I used to glance at her profile pretty often...hope there's no way for her to know that! Ugh!)

Sounds to me like she's deactivated her FaceBook account.. OR blocked you .. hard to tell.. why not.. you know.. ASK ?

Can someone block you if you aren't even a friend? Basically if I veiwed someone's profile and for some strange technical reason, they found out, could they 'block' me? I'm also wondering if this person I've viewed has either diactivated their account (and they can do so temporarily right?) or have blocked me. If I go into their friend's accounts and look at their friend's lists, this person is not found. Which comes down again to the question of all questions - Can people find out if you are viewing them - friends or not friends???

I thought I replied to this but yes you can block anyone friend or not. I personally have not done it but I saw the option when I looked up an old friend

Yes you can block non-friends. I've done it at least three times now to stop them from adding me or seeing when mutual friends comment on my wall.

Hi I have a friend on FaceBook that just dissapeared. After emailing me that she forgot her log in and her email log in, she hasn't wrote me back in 2 weeks. I click on our old msgs, and I can read them, but I can't view her picture (default) and her name is in BLACK. #2, her old profile, I clicked on our other past msgs, this time I don't see her name at all! Her default picture now shows a Man's shape. What could these 2 mean? Thank you very much for your help sir.

sounds like she's blocked you or deactivated the account. Why not send her another email and ask her?

If someone blocks you, their wall posts on your wall will not be removed, they will stay there with his name without a hyperlink. If someone deactivates their account, their wall posts will be removed from your wall, but you can still view wall to wall posts. If someone removes you from friends, wall posts will not be removed, they will stay there with the name hyperlinked, when you click it, you will see the request friendship page.

My Facebook account was disabled as well, therefore after weeks of struggle trying to regain it, I've written this semi-blog naming all my experience. It does answer the question as well, how to know whether your account was deleted or deactivated.

Hope that helps. p.s. from what you've already told, it seems like the account is deactivated.

I have a page selling second hand kids clothes...i recently ran an auction and have now been blocked for using annoying behaviour....i was commenting on who had won items??? I've been blocked for over 24 hours....when am i likely to be able to get back on my page..I am admin and will i get a message from facebook saying that i can get back on? I tried this morning and got the blocked message again and now i'm too afraid to try in case they delete my page....i've only got 370 likers but its a business page and i'm a Work at Home Mum and i need to be able to sell my stuff to make some kind of living. What do i do?????
