Digital Dirt: Get Out Your Cyber Mop!

Read a fantastic article on "digital dirt." It is precisely how it sounds: dirt on yourself that is on the internet. Catchy phrase and one I'm sure we will hear and/or read a lot more of. Ever go to an job interview and have someone ask you about an embarrassing YouTube video you uploaded? People are running names through Google more than most realize. Neighbors, cyber friends, office colleagues, creditors, parents of your children's friends and more.

The best way to sweep up your digital dirt is to create more news on yourself that is positive and self promoting: blogs, forums, local websites, etc. Have friends, family, and colleagues endorse you in a positive manner on theirs sites and such.

Have any of you ever come across a non flattering piece that you wish would just go away? How did you deal w/it?

Well, every time I type in my name to google (even with the quotation marks) it always breaks down my name and I wind up getting searches for Vanessa Hudgens in Italian where they seem to be calling her a lesbian and a biatch. My last name actually is a bad word in Italian.

You're upsetting me....on several levels.

When I google my name with quotes, I get 19, 700 results, 349,000 without quotes.

whoa! common name? did you search for your name + location to narrow it down? if nothing negative or embarrassing shows up in the results, i wouldn't even worry.

My first name is a very common one, but not the last.   However, there are a couple of doctor's and a couple of authors with my name so lot's of stuff comes up in a search.  When I do a search with my location, several things come up, but only one of them is me and it's just a listing on peoplefinders.

i'm so in "awe" about this article and the  site "reputation defender" that i had to go check them out too! it must be what celebrity spokesmen use to keep their client in a positive spot light. on a corporate level, i can think of a few people i know that must use this service or something similar! what a brilliant work from home gig!

Does anyone know how to get your information off of Reunion.com?  I typically don't find myself anywhere, but pipl just lead me too WAY too much information about me and my extended family on Reunion.  WTF?

are you a member of reunion.com? if not, they must pull their data from somewhere else? i have never attempted to request anything removed from them, but emailing their customer service may be a start.

Tuna cuts to the chase!  Thanks!!  You know, I over-complicate everything.  FYI a three minute phone call to:

Customer Service Team can be reached toll-free at (877) 820-9006

and it was removed.

I was never a member.  They collected the information from other sources, and when I say information I mean my siblings names and city/state and my parents - both deceased.  Upsetting.
