So I am he!!bent on getting new dishes this month! We keep saying we are going to but then time gets away and we forget. Here's the thing...we are looking for dishes that actually don't get hot in the microwave versus claiming they do! We have gone through 3 sets of dishes in the last 18 months non of which we liked. So anyone actually have dishes that don't get hot in the microwave that they can recommend?
"dont get hot in the microwave" ??
if the food in the dish gets hot, and the food is touching the dish, the dish is GUNNA get hot.. Unless there is some kind of new multi-layered, nitrogen-filled dishes that i've never heard of.
Well where the food is, will probably be hot... but high quality ceramic/glass dishes don't get hot from the microwave itself... meaning you could put just the dish in, microwave it, and there shouldn't be a huge temperature change if any... one day I'ma stop watching the discovery channel.
Oh yeah.. because I know how often i need to do that.
Well I guess I could have continued with the: "meaning when you go to get the dish with food from the microwave, you should be able to handle it without pot holders... the sides where there isn't any food sitting should remain cool... and if you microwave a mug, you should be able to grab the handle without burning yourself... but who needs fingerprints anyway?"
Well I'm glad you are watching because for just a minute there I was doubting my smartness :).....
Off Topic: What's with the accepted answer button? Can I just reject hubby's answer for hurtin' ma feelin's?
No, but you can accept mine to say ' IN YER FACE! ' to him... if ya want :)
No .. but you can accept Anime's answer and make me look dumb
I did and I'm going to find them now just to prove you wrong...they'll might be ugly as sin but I will find them...
if the dish is made of Correlle the food in the plate gets hot before the plate does. if its stoneware, the dish heats up faster than the food and you can barely hold the plate without oven mitts. So wise guy, the food doesn't always get hotter than the plate. next time try to be helpful. And for those who don't want hot plates out of the microwave, look for plates made from Correlle and not stoneware.
Did you figure that out all by yourself? Seriously? Just in case you weren't joking he is asking about bowls that heat up and the food doesn't.
