Does anyone here feel like they are not of this planet?

Very few PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY in my age group either do not agree with, do not THINK about, or do not even try to COMPREHEND some, or a LOT of the subject matter I bring to they as a topic of discussion. It seems topics with "DEPTH" seems to fly into one ear and out of the other with most people. I don't know if it is just this COUNTRY or the WORLD in GENERAL, but it seems I can find near to NO ONE who tries to understand, or is even WILLING to put in their side in such conversation. "OH-MY-GOSH. Did SARA just dump KEVIN?? Did he cheated? Oh- my gosh." SERIOUSLY?? I cared SO MUCH of this news I sold ALL of what little music equipment I had to GET IT... This is what you call; SHALLOW MATTER in the mind. I'm not CONCERNED with OTHER PEOPLE or their BUSINESS unless it is IMPORTANT. I like to brew up big IDEAS, and share my views on this reality and the possibility of ANOTHER and what not. But, NO. It seems all everyone around me outside of those I grew up with want to talk about is "who's doin' who". YUCK!! Since WHEN do I want to know ANYTHING about what you and so and so are doing in- UGH... I just came here to look for some common ground. I hope I have found any; if little at all. If there is ANYONE who feels the way I do about the great majority of people around PLEASE speak to me. You will have found "The Light of Commutee..."- or something. Take a look at my Myspace page (believe it or not; I have one).* Mod Edit: Link removed *. I'll be waiting...

Hate to say it, but it doesn't get much better. Not sure what your "age group" is, but I have found as I've gotten a little older that people don't change much. As adults people either trade the gossip for talk about work (and talk about it so much, often forget how to talk about anything else), or just never trade in the gossip at all. Just look at the popularity of tabloids and our societal obssesion with celebs, it's just the same old high school gossip.

The bright side is there are still a couple of us existentialist conversationalist still out there. If you haven't been yet, you will find a few in college. After that it's pretty hit or miss. Just make sure to hold on to the ones you find.

You sure are right on this. It doesn't seem to go away in too many of the even older...

I'm only 18, but I've been told I think like someone a lot older and wiser. I suppose college has a slight chance. I hope I can find atleast ONE person who feels REPELLED by nasty drunken parties. Thank you for your word.

Depends on where you go to college. My college is a military college, so there are no parties really on or off campus. Does everyone agree with it? No, but most do. However, if you go to a huge college, like UGA here in Georgia, then you'll be with all the drunks.

I would stick with a little community college. A military college may not be what I'm looking for; I'm an artist. Thank you for your advice.
