Does this mean someone's browser is hijacked?

Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; FunWebProducts; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; InfoPath.1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727)

Where it says, "FunWebProducts", is that spyware?  This came up on one of my trackers from a myspace user.  So, im curious ;)

Re: Does this mean someone's browser is hijacked?

It turned out that FunWebProducts (see links below) is an operation of a company called IWon. Its software - a Web application - is essentially yet another piece of adware (often mistakenly called spyware although that is arguably a related subgenre).

FunWebProducts is notable because it acquired a large user population with remarkable speed. Iwon is responsible for a series of notorious adware products including IWon, iWon Co-Pilot, iWon Search Assistant, and MySearch/MyWeb.

The apparent reason for the surge in popularity is that the FunWebProducts code is built into a number of "free" products offered by the same company. These products include Smiley Central, PopSwatter, My Mail Signature, My Mail Stationery, My Mail Stamp, Cursor Mania - all but the last tool (which is a cursor chooser) are "enhancements" for e-mail. By dint of widespread advertising FunWebProducts has managed to sucker thousands of naïve end users into running its software.

Hi Juliek. (Edit: and Jleo..this post pertains to both of you).

You were supposed to to do this scan Memorial Day weekend !!! ;-)

What utility did you use to scan and can you post the results? Funwebproducts is certainly adware.

I only have a few minutes right now, but I'm willing to work with you...

well, i personally, dont have the adware on my computer.  i have a tracker that shows someone's broswer & i saw the funwebproducts in the browser.  From what i remembered correctly, it was bad.  The person that it tracked, i dont care too much for, so im not going to tell them.  I was just curious is all ;)

thanks for the reponses!

Yeah, it kinda of rankles me too.

I can completely clean a system and still have no clue how to get it to stop announcing it's presence in the browser. There is probably a registry entry under explorer that needs to be digged out.

I see this on a few of the people my trackers have hit. Guess I should send some messages letting a couple of them know... they probably don't have a clue.
