Re: Flight Info. Security Q

I'm confused.  When you say you were given a copy of the flight info, who were you given it to by?  And regarding your friend, same question.

For the first part: I was given the gentlemans flight information from the office staff. We had to fly in a few tech reps. For some of our machinery. They gave me the wrong persons info.

As for my friend. She was supposed to have sent me a copy of her flight plans but forgot to.

And no I believe I said it was post 911

hmmmm very strange.  Let me know which airline this was so as I never book with them.  This was extremely unprofessional.

I think that is the key...the way you come off when you do it. If you are believeable with a good story you have better chances...

Re: Flight Info. Security Q

i believe it that this happened. my stepchild visits often and even though we book the flights i think there have been times where we didnt have the itinerary/confirmation number and been given information without being twenty-questioned. i could be wrong but i want to say its happened. we also know that bimom called and pretended to be me to change some of the flight info. i had to set up a password which you might be able to do over the phone with an agent. i believe in this case she flagged the account so password required would pop up and whoever answered the phone at their call center would see it.

That confuses me...wouldn't biomom have a right to that information (assuming she has joint legal custody) even more so than you as the stepmom....no offense. I mean it is her child not yours. My daughter travels a lot to see her Dad and he books the flight then I pay him for part of it. At one point in time he refused to give me her frequent flyer numbers and password which I am entitled to know since I pay for part of her airline ticket. I simply called the airline and explained to them the situation. They said there was a password on the account (which I think is a fantastic idea, BTW) and it was under her name and her stepmothers. I then faxed them the court documents stating that I have joint legal custody with her father and we are not allowed to delegate those rights to anyone else (such as the stepmom opening an account on her behalf). They were going to remove the stepmom but I said I didn't care if she was on there so long as I had access. I think it's under her father now...I haven't checked in ages but since the miles are earned on both our dollars, I wanted to make sure they would only be used on travel to and from each other not our own personal vacations. The were very helpful but did require verification which I appreciate since it is in regards to our child.

I've never tried it to be honest so I thought I would just now since we have three upcoming trips with airlines already booked.

Virgin: Nope...wouldn't give me anything just by name.

Alaska: I said I was me and forgot my flight info and they gave it to me without any questions beyond that....scary.

American Airlines: Gave them the...I'm a sister story and they put me on hold to get clearance then gave me nothing...

So I suppose if they at least know what airline to call and have your name it is hit or miss...

well it appears to be more common than i would have hoped. my husband and to finally request that i be added to his flight profile so that i can be an "authorized" user of his account for editing or inquiring of his flight. that security measure actually made me happy.

Re: Flight Info. Security Q

My dad just flew home from the Dominican Republic. I called American Airlines to find out when his flight arrived- i wasnt even sure if it was thurs or friday. I gave them his first and last name and they gave me all his flight info- Flight#, Date and time of arrival, and gate number. At a major international airport. Easy Peasy. I dont think its nearly as hard as some of you would like to think.
