Google Rolls Out Free NYC Wifi

Picture of a Google Drop LogoYesterday Google announced that they are once again expanding in the internet provider world. Google is already doing well with their fiber service in Kansas City, and now they are rolling out WiFi in New York. Google WiFi is being put on as a joint venture between the city and Google and at this point it seems like a great idea.

The only catch is, Google is only providing free WiFi to one neighborhood at this point: Chelsea. It is a starting point according to Google and if it is successful they hope to expand, but right now they’re just hoping to see if it is used. Google wants to cover the entire community if possible so they’re going to be continuously monitoring and improving the service, and if things work out they may start expanding around New York City and possibly into other cities in the future.
