I really like Michael's. There's always one near and it's just more convenient.  I did find holiday cellophane at Walmart though. Something our Michael's didn't have.   And also around halloween, okay the day before halloween,  I had a last second fabric purchase for a costume at Walmart.  Saved the day.

We don't have A.C. Moore. We do have JoAnn Fabric.  I always wanted to go into one :)

You noticed too?  Bare said something similar as well.

I like it, the prices are great.  The quality is fine for my level of "craftiness".  I have to go way way way far north of my city.  Their craft department is endless.  I don't mind the drive though.

I need to get the name of the craft store next to one of our Old Navy's.  I've heard good things, very small store too.  Has lots of crafty goodies but it's like a scrapbook haven.

Walmarts here in Houston don't.  They are definitely cheaper in stuff they do have, but it's very limited.

noticed that about PA. it is hit-n-miss with what each W-M carries. absolutely no consistency.

I'm noticing the WalMart thing to be regional.  Other knitters I've chatted with online swear by them, mine blows.  They used to have a reasonable selection, now, they just suck.  Hmmm, I wonder if the craft section will be better after I move...

*Update* I hit my local Walmart this afternoon, and while their selection of needles and other supplies still suck, they seem to have increased their yarn selection.  It's not as big as it used to be before they downsized, but it's about half again as big as it was just a month ago, so, maybe they've decided to not phase out craft supplies after all?

Hobby Lobby.  I love them!  They have great clearance racks where you can get acrylics and oils for really cheap.

I've heard nothing but good things about Hobby Lobby, but we don't have any here.  According to their website, the nearest one is 170 miles from me, and not even open yet.  Boo, hiss.

Sometimes you can find "craft squares" and yarn or thread at a "discount" store. I've also found some at garage sales and flea markets....

When I lived in Iowa I'd go to Michael's once a week, but I normally got the things I needed at Walmart...too bad that I read most Walmarts are closing the craft sections sometime in 2009...Stock up now Walmart lovers!

I also found this....craftrends.com/industry-news/wal-mart-response/
