Getting your brows in shape...

Hello Cupcake
Getting your brows in shape...

A subject not just for the ladies either ;)

Picking the right shape. I've always read how important the right brow shape is for framing the face. How it can make or break your look. So what do you do? Do it yourself or maybe you leave it to the professionals. Do you chime in and give your two cents?

Techniques and tools. What to do? Pluck, wax, threading, trimming, tattooing. What have you tried or is there something you're dying to try? Horror stories, pain an issue? What are you or your pro using? I've seen everything from simple stencils to brow wigs? Really? Really. :) Eyebrow template anyone?

I know that I have a slanted tweezer that is pure magic. The kind that doesn't tweeze like any other. You know the kind that if misplaced everyone around you will magically suffer until it's found :) Yeah, that kind.

Tips, Tricks, and Styling. Spill! We want to hear them :) Clear mascara, hairspray, gel trick? White eyeliner to help you figure out the shape you want before you dive in?

Shadows, brow corrector, brushes, pencils? What are you comfy with? Do you follow the light or dark rules? Does changing your hair color play a role?  Or do you just follow the natural flow of your eyebrow and that's it.  :)

Contribute or just plain vent about it :)

brows by 'michele' for $7. wax!

i used to be able to maintain my own brows. i have a natural arch from what i've always been told so plucking was always a cinch. then my eye sight grew worse.....continues to do such at my age. so waxing it is!

Re: Getting your brows in shape...

I like to use a hard wax on the top part to get those really fine invisi-hairs that get in the way of tweezing... since my eyebrows have a natural arch and shape, I just tweeze to 'perfect' it...

I don't like to actually shape my eyebrows with wax because I had them professionally done a few times, and once, when they put the muslin strip down, it smushed the wax out further than desired accidentally... in resulted in one of my eyebrows being a little thinner than the other... I'd just rather not deal with that again... I'm a weirdo about symmetry...

When I really 'do' my makeup, I might shade them in with powder a bit, but being a dishwater blonde (I hate that term lol) it's kinda hard to find a good color to use...

My typical brow maintenance is just to sweep over them with clear mascara to keep them perfect.

Things I can't stand... sharpie eyebrows, or people who draw them out super far (I loved Moulin Rouge! and I love Nicole Kidman but her eyebrows in that movie drove me nuts to have them out almost to her hairline...)

I didn't notice Nicole Kidman's "eyebrow don't" in Moulin Rouge.  I'll have to pay more attention when I watch it again.  Then again, when my boyfriend Ewan Mcgregor is in a movie I don't notice much except him. eheh

He's a good example of a man brow too, in my opinion

Ugh... I'm head over heels for his voice!

Anyway, Kidman has sexy eyebrows... except in the movie where they just kept goinggg (like an inch past their natural end)... it was better seen in the Elephant Love Medley song but here's a photograph:

That's crazy! Thanks Trinity, now when I see her all I am going to see are her eyebrows. The shape of the brows are nice though.

Ohhhhhhh, I read wrong lol

I thought you meant draw them up.  I never noticed that, yeah when your brows look like they're trying to run away from you face, bad brows.

I'd like to speak for all the pansy's out there in saying that waxing hurts like he11. An old girlfriend made me get it done for senior prom, and I haven't considered it sense... The only thing that made up for it was the full body massage I paid for after... But the little chinese woman laughed at me the entire time she was doing the waxing. Apparently a grown guy with tears forming at the corners of his eyes is amusing.... *shutters* Just let 'em grow, thanks.

awe, 'rays! did you have a uni-brow or just big man brows? first off, i think it is cool that she suggested and you obliged. secondly, it's not too uncommon for men these days to manage their brows. husband of mine maintains his man-brows with a tool on his electric shaver. otherwise they'd be real caveman like!

She said I had a uni-brow, but I would disagree... Oh well. If I tried to do anything to them myself, I'd end up with no eyebrows when I was finished trying to "fix" them.

Cavemen like... Haha. Very nice tuna. :)

Re: Getting your brows in shape...

I think some guys look really sexy with the thick man-brows... then again, some don't... I think as long as they don't take over your face, who cares... you're a guy... if you had prettier eyebrows than me, we'd have a problem.

Evidently on the runways for spring and summer fashion trends this year, were full brows for women... I couldn't get my brows like this if I tried, unless I invested in the help of sharpie markers... I'm not a fan of super thin eyebrows, but I think super full eyebrows can be just as creepy (doesn't the model in the back look like she's chewing on the front mode's hair??)
