Re: Guitars.

I hear that some people have those switches disabled because they can't figure out how to use them, or what they do. It would make allot more sense to read a manual or just leave them in the off position.

Speaking of P90's check this out.

or they could just listen.  lol!

wow poles and a blade.  looks like a lawrence dated a standard pickup

i use lawrence pickups in the bridge of my flying v.  i described the sound as if the stock pickups were soggy cereal, the lawrence pickups were like fresh just poured the milk cereal. :)

Re Lawrence pickups... I use Bill's regular power pickups in my main electric.  Very clear and non-muddy.  I called their shop to ask a wiring question and instead of Becky, Willi (Bill) picked up the phone.  He asked me what switches I already had and asked me what I wanted them to do.  He faxed me this the next day:

Re: Guitars.

wow thats really cool.  i use the XL500s

Washburn was like that. once my girlfriend got mad at me for giving the silent treatment and she jumped up and down on my D3 case.  the guitar was fine but the toggle snapped off.  i called washburn and they fedex'd a new toggle free of charge.

Hmmm.  Must be the two X chromosomes.  We were in a fight and my future wife suspended my black beauty over the 2nd floor balcony outside the apartment we lived in.  Then again... I was being an a--hole and probably deserved it.  Thankfully, she didn't let it fall.

Re: Guitars.

No shame in cheap guitars exspecially Epiphones, Sgt. Pepper was recorded using Epiphones. I would probably just get an Epi Dot or SG if I didn't have help getting the new Strat.

Re: Guitars.

Some Epi's I've played have had more mojo than actual Gibbys.  The best Epi's have glue-in necks.

My kid has a Squier Strat that I bought him for $100 which out of the box kinda sucked.   I tore it apart and did a complete re-setup (neck relief, angle, pickup height, bridge angle, string height) and it has all the Strat sounds and plays as good as the Fender American Strat I sold on eBay a few years ago.

What made the difference in sound was fixing the bridge.  The setup form the factory (Mex) had the bridge angle adjusted all the way back to dive only and they aren't made to be played that way.  There are better ways to lock out a standard floating bridge than to bottom the back plate out with spring tension.

Re: Guitars.

strat trems are fun and really cool cause you have to pay attention.  often when dipping the b or g can go out and on return you need to pull the strings back into pitch with the bar.
