How to disable iCloud GPS Tracking on your iPhone

Update: This page and the video below show images and steps specific to iOS 6 however the steps are basically the same on iOS 7, IOS8 and iOS 9

You can prevent being tracked on an iPhone via iCloud & Find My iPhone several ways - all by various methods of disabling or removing the Find My iPhone service on your phone.

Method 1: Disable the location services
Disabling the location services on your iPhone will prevent anyone from tracking you using the Find My iPhone service.  You can either disable all location services for all apps or just for the Find My iPhone service.  To access the location services settings, tap the settings icon, tap "Privacy", then tap "Location Services".  You can either disable all location services by tapping the on/off switch at the top or scroll down to Find My iPhone, tap it, and then tap the on/off switch for "Find My iPhone"

Method 2: Disable the Find My iPhone Service
You can completely disable Find My iPhone by tapping Settings, then iCloud, then tap the on/off switch for Find My iPhone.  You can also delete the iCloud account from the phone by tapping DELETE at the bottom of the screen but be aware this will remove all iCloud services from your iPhone.

Method 3: Change your iCloud/Find My iPhone/AppleID password
If you prefer to leave Find My iPhone functional to track it should it become lost or stolen, but don't want someone else to track you, just change your iCloud/Find My iPhone password.  To change your iCloud/Apple ID password, log in to, select Manage your account, click Password and Security, then in the center of the screen, click "Change Password".  You will then have to enter your new password in your iPhone iCloud settings - be sure that you DON'T give the new password to your stalker!

Any of the methods above, or all combined will help prevent someone from tracking your location on your iPhone.

If you turn off Find My IPhone and/or Location Services, no one would be able to track you using iCloud. If law enforcement or the CIA is on your trail, you better just throw the iPhone off a bridge because they don't need iCloud to track you.
You can tell if location services is in use by the Location Services icon (small arrow) that appears in the upper-right near the clock whenever Location Services is in use. You can then look in your privacy settings to see what app is/has been using Location Services.

This question has already been answered but if I turn off my location services and the find my iphone, i understand no one can track me via icloud. But will it also prevent anyone from tracking me through any apps?

Any app on a (non-jailbroken) iPhone will rely on Location Services to work.

My husbands iPhone is unlocked (jailbreak) I want to track where he goes " he's always out or working late" anyways I don't know he's password for his phone but he downloads apps with my iTunes. Can I track him and how? I try to tell him to activate iCloud but he won't is there another way? please Help

Re: How to disable GPS Tracking on your iPhone

If you don't know his password then he is hiding something best way to find out to is call him or wen he tells he's at work u call his work to confirm he's there u can also just shoe up at his work on that "late day at work" lie that he's giving you. But hey something like this happened to me and trust me it sucks wen u have to be tracking the other person feel free to email mail me if u want to talk about it some more

So my boyfriend has his iPhone jailbroken and I use to be able to look him up with this find your iphone thing but now he says he can block people from using that app on him because its a plus of having it jailbroken Is that possible or does he just have it off?

The only way someone can "use that app on him" is if he gives them his iCloud password, or if he configures his iCloud/Find My iPhone with that other person's iCloud.. I have no idea why you would need an app to turn off Find My iPhone when you can just... turn off Find My iPHone.. or, change the password so nobody else can use it.

So sure, I suppose you could get a Jailbreak app to turn off Find My Iphone instead of going to Settings and tapping "turn off find my iphone" ...

I have a question, I have a iPhone 4S and I'm on a family plan for sprint. Can my parent still be able to find where I am located if I turn off my location.

If you correctly turn off Location Services and/or Find My iPhone you cannot be tracked via iCloud. If you are suggesting that Sprint's family plan does some sort of tracking, I am not familiar enough with it to answer if it can still track you.

My dad has been tracking me from his iPad mini and his iPhone and i got into MAJOR TROUBLE! I turned off the Find my iPhone app i deleted my iCloud account on my phone and i turned off my locations services. Am I good or could he still track me somehow?
