How to disable iCloud GPS Tracking on your iPhone

Update: This page and the video below show images and steps specific to iOS 6 however the steps are basically the same on iOS 7, IOS8 and iOS 9

You can prevent being tracked on an iPhone via iCloud & Find My iPhone several ways - all by various methods of disabling or removing the Find My iPhone service on your phone.

Method 1: Disable the location services
Disabling the location services on your iPhone will prevent anyone from tracking you using the Find My iPhone service.  You can either disable all location services for all apps or just for the Find My iPhone service.  To access the location services settings, tap the settings icon, tap "Privacy", then tap "Location Services".  You can either disable all location services by tapping the on/off switch at the top or scroll down to Find My iPhone, tap it, and then tap the on/off switch for "Find My iPhone"

Method 2: Disable the Find My iPhone Service
You can completely disable Find My iPhone by tapping Settings, then iCloud, then tap the on/off switch for Find My iPhone.  You can also delete the iCloud account from the phone by tapping DELETE at the bottom of the screen but be aware this will remove all iCloud services from your iPhone.

Method 3: Change your iCloud/Find My iPhone/AppleID password
If you prefer to leave Find My iPhone functional to track it should it become lost or stolen, but don't want someone else to track you, just change your iCloud/Find My iPhone password.  To change your iCloud/Apple ID password, log in to appleid.apple.com, select Manage your account, click Password and Security, then in the center of the screen, click "Change Password".  You will then have to enter your new password in your iPhone iCloud settings - be sure that you DON'T give the new password to your stalker!

Any of the methods above, or all combined will help prevent someone from tracking your location on your iPhone.

I've recently sold my Iphone 4s and the buyer called me yesterday to say they have no access to the phone until i switch off "Find my phone" How can i do that now i've sold my phone?

Sign into the www.icloud.com website and click the Find My iPhone button.
Click the "My Devices" at the top center of the screen, and select your phone from the list
Click "erase" - if it asks to send a message or a phone number to the phone, skip it and click Next
After it's erased, you should then have the option to "Remove from Account" when selecting it in Find My iPhone

Is there anyway to shut off the find my iPhone or at least to where someone couldn't find it if the phone is not under your iCloud? Because my ex still has the find my iPhone on my phone and I can't disable it because it's under we account.

If the phone has IOS7 and you don't know the password, there is no way to disable Find My iPhone. But you can put the phone in Airplane Mode, pop out the SIM, or power it down, and you cant be located.

I found an iphone 4 and deleted his Icloud account , are there any other ways for him to track the exact location of his phone ?

Are there other ways for him to track HIS phone that you are doing everything you can to make sure he does not find? I don't know, but I sure hope so! Apparently you didnt pay attention when momma tried to teach you right and wrong? Let's just hope that you never lose anything.. as$hole.

My husband has installed iCloud on my iphone with his password and find my iphone app. I can turn off my location services but not sure if he can still see my location?

if location services is properly disabled then he won't be able to see your location unless he puts the phone in lost/stolen mode.. but then you wouldn't be able to use the phone.

Can call forwarding be discovered through the find my iphone app? I mean what if I leave my iphone in one place and forward my calls to another device that I will carry with me? Thank you for taking the time to answer.
