I am just a 23 year old guy that can barely get by on the computer. I know my way around the net and if it has to do with keeping my computer running good I can do it. Other than that I am completely ignorant. I would like to learn a little about programming, I always thought writing my own programs would be a cool thing. If anyone has any advice for a noob like me, I would appreciate it.

First - welcome!
My advice is to start with the basics.. make sure you have a good grasp of the "computer" you use (which really means the OS like Windows, or OS X if you use a Mac).. If you jump right into learning a programming language, this isnt going to help you one-bit if you have a Windows issue of any sort..
and yes, writing your own programs is a cool thing :-)

I know a little about my computer. I know I'm running XP SP3, which I like because I don't have to keep all the crap that comes pre-loaded on a new computer. I purchased a Dell running an early series of Vista and killed the OS because I deleted the stuff I didn't want as soon as I opened the lid. Since than I only rock XP. I know a little about binary logic from some electricity classes I took while becoming an aviation mechanic.
