Any Lottery Players?

Re: Any Lottery Players?

I buy scratch-off tickets every time I have to go to the laundromat.  Kills time while I'm stuck watching things spin for 2 hours.  I usually buy the Bingo or Crossword ones, simply because they take longer.  Most of the time, I don't win at all.  I don't mind, though, like 'Rays mentioned re: Georgia, NJ's lottery money all goes to charitable groups, like education funds, Veteran's Affairs, and school lunch programs.

Back in my waitressing days, I worked in a small place that sold Lottery.  We had a handful of regulars who, imho, had serious lottery addictions.  There was a man who, when he came in with his wife, sat demurely in the booth with her, and wouldn't even make eye contact with me.  As soon as she was out of sight, his face would light up, he's sneak $55 into my hand, $50 for tickets, $5 for me to not tell his wife.  If he came in without her, he'd easily drop $100, leaving my counter covered in spilled sugar and little silvery-grey wax crumbles.  Overall, I'd say he spent close to $300 a week, every week, on scratch-off tickets, all behind his wife's back.  But, he always tipped well.  Hush money, I guess.

i play the lotto...not often but i'll play mega millions sometimes and every so often a scratch off...i've won $50 a few times on those... i like to gamble in general.  so i keep away from the lottery for the most part.

I like the scratch off games.  The most I've won is like $30 I think.

I don't like to gamble but  once in a great while will drop a dollar or two on the mega millions drawing. I do find those scratch off card kinda fun, though since I have horrible luck I never win. I would be the worst person to take to Vegas or Atlantic City, I wouldn't gamble at all, maybe I'd try a slot machine but thats it. Go ahead point at me and laugh

No, no, no one will point and laugh.  ;)  It's good that you're like that because most people spend more money gambling than they will ever win.

lol, just kidding!  nah, gambling should only be done on occassion and with the thought in mind that you will probably not win.  at least not much...although, the first time i went to Vegas, i used a $1 and won $100.  first casino i hit, an hour after i got off the plane...that was pretty cool.

uhm selling your soul for $100 doesn't seem like a very good idea to me lol..

hey if i needed money that badly Vegas would be the last place i went to... i work hard so i can do things like play in Vegas without having to sell my soul.  :)

i was so nervous about gambling my first time in a casino too. i had bought scratchers but thats only a dollar or two here and there. well the hubby took me and i was content watching him play quarter slots cause i got to drink hang out and observe. (im a people watcher) but then he gave me a handful of quarters and i thought "what the heck. at least i can say i did it." so i put in 75 cents and won like 200 or 300 dollars. it was enough to pay for the rest of our stay. other than a casino trip once in a while hubby and i play scratchers but only maybe once every month or so and its only usually whatever 1 dollar bills i happen to have on me. the most ive won was like 20 bucks. hubby has won 50. i think its fun every now and again. roulette tables though are so much fun! if i had unlimited funds id stay at the table for a good 8 hours.

oh that's awesome!  it's always so much fun when you win.  a little rush of adrenaline.  if i had unlimited funds i'd prob do the same as you lol.  maybe hit up the Blackjack tables too...

yeah, i don't really gamble often either but every so often i'll buy myself a scratch off just for fun.  :)
