It is legitimate, but if concerned about clicking on the link (which I didn't do), go to MagicJack.com, sign in, click "Call Features" and click on 911. In the top box, it will show both your address of service and whether you are paid or unpaid for this tax. Click on the "unpaid" and it will take you to a very easy process of making payment. Mine was $8-ish to take me through December this year. I'm all about supporting our EMS system :-) They do good work.

Thank you. I followed your directions and my account says my 911 is paid, my status is valid and I'm enrolled in 911. All I did was subscribe for a 3 year subscription which was cheaper than the $35 a year deal.

Re: MagicJack bill

I was trying to Google "911 BILL#: 2102165" , I couldn't find anything. Tied House Bill, Senate Bill, tried different version, nothing came up.
I don't mind to pay but would like to see a copy of the bill.

Is the 911 feature mandatory? Can I skip the 911 feature? I already have cell phone to call 911..

MagicJack - Is it a scam?

From what I remember, we paid for something like a 5 year plan. When we moved to a new state 3 years ago we decided to get rid of Magic Jack. We continue to get emails saying that we need to pay the 911 fee even though our home phone service is now with Spectrum Cable. My wife went in circles with their customer service to no avail. Magic Jack will not let us be done with them until our contract is over. If we paid for something outright, then it should be our prerogative if we want to keep their service or not. It's not like we're trying to not pay the remaining years of our contract, we paid it up front, they got their money already. Because of their horrible customer service and refusal to fix this problem we will never use them again, and if the topic of Magic Jack ever comes up we definitely deter people from using their service (or lack of).

Same issues as seen before above. Got an email stating I was billed. Then looked an a old phone number was shown as active that I hadnt used in months and had not paid for. The number was used and showed as active and could not be removed. Escalated the incorrect phone number to Magic to get removed from my account. They told to uninstall the Magic Jack app from cell phone. Uninstalled from computer and nothing changed.

Called magic back the 4th time and they said the number has to be removed by an escalation form. Why wouldnt anyone else do this? Because one department wants to transfer you to billing for technical issues and to technical support for billing issues. AMAZING how inept these Magicjack agents are except for the runaround. They make sure you never see your tail but let you know is there anything else they can help with when they didnt do anything anyway! HA HA HA!

If you buy a Magic Jack pray you never need support. They are barely capable of anything other than taking money.

MagicJack 911 fees

Signed up for MagicJack in late Feb 2021, and keep getting emails from them asking to pay in advance for 1 or 2 or 5 years in advance. Plus they are asking to pay for 911 service for next year. The actual 911 charges can be found at: https://www.nena.org/page/911ratebystate Not sure what they charge for 911 as they refused to tell me. Makes no sense, maybe the emails are spam?

Thank you I just contacted Magic Jack Customer Service/ ,Billing Dept. inquiring about their new Annual $35 e911 fee and I was told this is real but they would not provide me with the government agency's name who is now requesting the new $35 annual fee,, So now I refuse to pay any extra fees e911 or any other fee . I told them I will use my mobile phone now to call 911 s if ever necessary now, .He said I will only be billed by this Government agency for any E911 services I use now annually ?? Sounds like Magic Jack is only padding their annual subscription fee. rate now etc. ???

Dear customer:
This is not a bill, but a choice for you as described below. If you decide you will not pay, you do not have to take any action.
Due to recent changes, MagicJack will start to charge for 911 services for 911 capability. If you decide to continue to receive certain limited 911 calling privileges as described in our TOS, you will need to go to my.magicjack.com and fill out the necessary forms and give new debit/credit card information.
magicJack will not profit by collecting these pass through charges for the 911 authorities.
The charges will be billed annually by email and may cost anywhere from $6.00 to over $60.00 a year. On average throughout the country it will cost about $12.00 a year.
magicJack will provide limited exceptions for hardship cases for people who made a 911 call before July 1, 2013 and will post notification or email these certain customers later concerning the eligibility.
These unfortunate changes were made necessary because certain emergency 911 Districts in certain jurisdictions requested we attempt to bill on their behalf and benefit.
