Re: Private page layout

Okay, here's the difference that I saw between 3 private profiles and the one mentioned above:

The private profiles have this (it's about 3/4 of the way down, sits kinda by itself in the center of the page, and it's right above the urchin tracker stuff)

<img src="http://nb.myspace.com/isf.gif" />

And here's what's on the other profile (cmendoza22):

<img src="http://nb.myspace.com/isf.gif?AUHQ=FD5225A36C50B41C3119EB9BC57CB659" />

 I have no idea what the difference is, but I looked and this was the only thing that I could see was different between all the private profiles.

Maybe this can help someone to figure out what she did and how she did it.

What you do in this life, will echo for eternity.

Re: Private page layout

She somehow has a personalized stylesheet on her page:

http://profileedit.myspace.com/Modules/Common/Handlers/UserStyle.ashx?friendId=153754524&styleid=1097

A new feature maybe?

I'm not shy, I'll email her and ask her how she did it if ya'll want...

"Hey, I was looking for a friend, and stumbled across your profile. I love the private layout! Think you could tell me how ya did it? It's really cool!

Something like that, that way she'll never know who was originally trying to find her.

Re: Private page layout

It's actually really easy to do...you have to use the new "myspace profile editor"

1. Make sure your pro is already private

2. Open I.E

3. Log into your myspace account

4. Click on the myspace profile editor

5. click "start"

6. customize it

7. click "save"

8. then log out and view your page.

DING!  That's why none of us could get it, I'm pretty sure almost all of us are using Firefox almost exclusively!  Thanks!

Re: Private page layout

OK, so I tried it, and it didn't quite work right.  I already have a layout that I did myself, and I really like, so I didn't want to change it.  So,  I went into my profile in IE (ick!) and did what you said, only I just clicked "save" for the layout that I already have, I didn't change anything.  Now, when I'm logged in and I can actually see my profile, it looks just like it used to.  When I'm logged out and viewing the "private" page, it's all greyish.  Not my cool purple and yellow stars like on my profile, just an odd grey color.  I guess it's better than the default white, but why didn't my background show?  I'm confuzzled.

Yeah..the myspace editor is sketchy sometimes...I had to redo it about 4 times before I was content with it.

Re: Private page layout

I had to try this little trick, now I'm paying for it...

Something's different about my page and I can't tell what. That I can deal with.

Anybody remember a thread a while back in which we were discussing changing what displays for your number of friends?  Someone posted a little overlay code, and I used it to make it show a very specific number for my friend count (P to the Izzle was smart enough to guess what it was). Anyway, after saving with the new layout editor that little overlay is way off, and I'm having trouble fixing it, and making it anywhere close to the same spot in IE and Firefox. Anybody have any suggestions? I tried searching for the original thread so I could maybe start from scratch and I can't find it.

Next time maybe I'll know better to leave well enough alone, but probably not...

Re: Private page layout

I deleted the 666 friend thing until I can fix it properly. Now I'm dealing with something else... When you looked in IE, did you see the whole profile or did half the Interests section disappear? I know that can be a tracker-related issue, but I swear it wasn't doing it before... also if you hit me in IE I should have tracked you and I didn't... If I can get things right, I'm never editing anything again...

Re: Private page layout

You know, I tried the editor, and it did nothing for my profile. I don't know what I did wrong, but my "private page" still looks the same.  I tried tweaking some of the settings in the profile editor, but like you said, it's not at all user friendly.  Oh well, the idea is cool, but until I can come up with a code to do it without myspace's goofy editor, my private layout will remain naked...
