Proxy or real IP?

Hey,

I've been searching all over the net and couldn't find any accurate answer so I hope you guys can help me out.

Last month, a friend of mine asked me to borrow her money so she could go to China to take care of some business (She's a Chinese citizen so she has to go to China to renew her Korean VISA)
Anyways, that was actually last month, and ever since then I haven't heard anything from her (as of not phoned). She messaged me on MSN a couple of times, but that's it.
But one day she accidentally send me her desktop (everyone who uses MSN on a notebook might know this problem) and it was all in Korean. However, I noticed that her resolution was quiet weird (1366*768). Until then, it was actually all good. I mean, it ain't my business whether she's using 1366 or whatever.

Anyways I'm having a blog on Tumblr, and usually I don't check my stats at all (bcz only a couple of my friends know the URL). However, when looking at the numbers I noticed that she was multiple times on blog and she was regularly visiting my blog but the WEIRD thing is/was her IP was constantly changing. And the location of all IPs are Korea (Once it was in America, but shortly after it switched back to Korea). I whois'd the IP, and I was able to get two information: One is a huge Korean ISP and the other one is a random company.

So I'm now wondering whether she's in Korea, or if she's using a proxy from China.
FYI, I went to the random company but according to them they don't have an employee under her name.

As for the change of IP ... only the last 3 numbers of the IP change constantly. Meaning 111.222.333.444 but 444 always changes.

Can you guys please help me out? As said, I want to know whether she's in Korea, and lying on me or if she's using a proxy or whatever from China. Because if she's Korea, I'm seriously considering contacting the police, because the amount she borrowed was high (around 4000 US$).

Thanks in advance for your help!

Re: Proxy or real IP?

it's not totally abnormal for the last octet (last 3 digits) of an IP to change frequently, so this does not indicate anything.. if you post one of the IP's, I will be able to tell you with a high-degree of confidence if it is proxy or not..

175.197.47.130, 211.63.210.156, 68.68.107.17 Those are the IPs. The first two IP's constantly change. And also last 4-digits of both IPs change on a daily? basis. As for the letter one, I have no idea where this IP is coming from it was listed along the other two IPs. Thanks Hubby!

Re: Proxy or real IP?

175.197.47.130 - Korea Telecom (ISP).. Does not appear to be a proxy
211.63.210.156 - Some Korean company.. Does not appear to be a proxy
68.68.107.17 - registered to a advertising company in California - probably just a 'bot' hitting your page

.. so, they dont look like proxies. If you are certain this is her I think it is a safe-bet to assume that she is in Korea..

Re: Proxy or real IP?
Okay thank you very much. You were a big help! Btw so you're saying it is not unusual that last 4 digits, and sometimes even the last 8 digits change?

Re: Proxy or real IP?

not unusual if your WHOIS lookup still shows it is the same ISP or company.

Re: Proxy or real IP?
Okay. So it is unlikely that a VPN or proxy is used to access my blog, correct? Meaning she's in Korea?

Re: Proxy or real IP?

I'm not seeing anything that makes me think it's a proxy or a VPN. It's possible that either could be the case, but I'm not seeing it..

Thanks man :) Guess I'll have to talk to police then But one more question, how is it possible to use a companies network then? O.o

Re: Proxy or real IP?

Maybe that company is the hotel? Or, a Internet cafe, or another ISP? Dunno..

Re: Proxy or real IP?
No it's an usual company. A marketing agency. So is it likely that she's indeed working there?
