Im not sure i completely understand your question?

Do you already have a gif and you just want to save it? Or are you creating an animation in PhotoShop and you want to save it as a gif?

If you have Photoshop CS3 you should be able to SAVE or SAVE AS (or EXPORT, depending on the version) and select "GIF" as the file type in the dropdown selection.

okay, so this has me treading in water i am unfamiliar with, so as i mentioned in the IM's we exchanged, my google search provided a few thousand. here are a few:

http://www.pure-mac.com/screen.html

http://www.yellowmug.com/snapndrag/

http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-from-screen/

again, an area i am not familiar with so i am not even sure i searched the right criteria.
