If you have Photoshop CS3 you should be able to SAVE or SAVE AS (or EXPORT, depending on the version) and select "GIF" as the file type in the dropdown selection.
okay, so this has me treading in water i am unfamiliar with, so as i mentioned in the IM's we exchanged, my google search provided a few thousand. here are a few:
have photoshop cs3 i save as gif and it asks me, "flatten layers and discard animation frames?" which is NOT what i want since i did an animation

Do you already have a gif and you just want to save it? Or are you creating an animation in PhotoShop and you want to save it as a gif?

one last question.
on my mac i used a lot of the capper programs. like on flash programs, it can can automatically every 3 seconds for making animation frames.
Does anyone know a program for mac that will cap like that? (movie clips and such)

i can not figure that out either! since you did figure it out, could you let me know? someone? please?
it's driving me crazy.
i have saved it "for web" or whatever and it's still just one image. it doesn't move.
