Show me your desktop

I've seen this on other forums and I always like looking at other peoples desktops. Whether it be tricked out or stripped down. Cool backgrounds, whatever. Here's mine. All of my programs launch from Rocketdock. I like clean and dark looks. I used Dark XP to change my task bar and start menu. The background I pulled off of a website some time ago.

Shucks, the mouseover isn't working the way I had hoped it would. Oh well.

That's funny the original thread title was going to be show me yours and I'll show you mine. Just a way to trick people into clicking.

Confession time...before I knew better, I was a desktop theme addict.  I'd download a dozen a day!  Of course, my old PC was riddled with spyware and slow as molasses because of it, and I know better now.  However, I think I have ADD, and I get bored very easily, so sticking with one desktop for very long is a challenge.  Then, I discovered Wirechanger , and now I have a different background every 2 hours!!!!  How effin' cool is that?  Even better, I now have a calendar and clock on my desktop at all times, as well as current weather and headlines.  I love it!

I was the same way for a while too. Eventually my wife put her foot down and said no more. I think when I added the dock and at the time had added some widgets in a sidebar. It just was too much. Luckily for me I'm pretty content with my current set up. I'm working on securing an old computer to play with and then I can do anything I want to it as often as I want. There's also my iPod and iPhone which I change themes on frequently. That helps curb my disease, I mean desires.

Since I haven't found something comparable to the above mentioned WireChanger for Linux yet, this is my desktop when I'm using it instead of Windows:

I love Linux, it's so clean looking Kiss

Re: Show me your desktop

I just procured a beat up pc running windows me. I took the HD out of it and put it in an old dell. It has a whopping 8 gigs of space. I installed Linux Mint on it but replaced it with Madriva. I haven't had much of a chance to play with it yet and it's not connected to the internet though. So internet and reinstalling the sound card aremy first two priorities. It's a learning experience.

Your's looks real nice.

Mandriva's the only one I've tried so far.  Like you, I put it on a beater machine, an 8 year old Gateway.  Sound card was still good, but getting online was a challenge at first.  Now the problem is that I don't have the room for 2 monitors and all, so I have to keep unplugging everything when I want to use the other machine.  There's definitely a learning curve, coming from Windows, but I do like it much better,  it's so much cleaner and faster.  Plus, it starts up faster than any computer I've ever used, which is a plus when you lose electricity several times a day.

Re: Show me your desktop

The computer I have doesn't have an ethernet card. The guy connected to his modem using USB. Really, it wasn't all that slower than my computer on the internet. Just everything else. My wife is already complaining of the lack of room in our dining room because of this spare computer. I guess I better get it up to par quick and move it. I just need to figure out where.
