The main difference is that Mint has flash out of the box. I don't think Mandriva has that. Other than that I don't know. I haven't had a lot of time to play with it yet. I will say, I installed cairo dock and it was a breeze. I was truly shocked by how easy it was. I had read about installing stuff in Linux. I downloaded the .deb file. Double clicked it and Linux took over and installed it all. Can't get much easier than that.
M'kay, I'ma start a new thread re: Linux flavors, since I have questions. We need to gang up on Hubby and ask for a Linux badge. Cute little penguin.....

Yeah I had a hard time picking which flavor I went with. There are just so many. Eventually I picked Ubuntu, Mint, Mandriva and Dream. I burned all four to live discs and just booted from live disc and played with them. I settled on Mint because it had flash preinstalled and it's a derivative of Ubuntu which has tons of online support. It's easy to find how to's online for Ubuntu and so far they have worked just fine for Mint. I tried out AWN's dock but this old computer can't handle it. It does just fine with Cairo Dock. I also added docklets, a clock and calender. Both work and I see no appreciable slow down in my system. Add in a Tomboy note To Do List and I'm all set. Once I settle on a desktop for a few days I'll repost an updated screen shot. I've been using my Mint computer all day. Haven't even touched my XP computer.
Oh yeah, I was thinking the same thing for a Linux Badge.
Awesome photograph!
So, what's the difference between mint & mandriva?
