Software For Identifying Photo Names

Is there a software or a way to identify what the name of a random photo is from a website?

Example: I'm looking at my friends facebook photo album and see an interesting photo, and wonder what she has it named on her PC or has it named in her photobucket album. Is there a way to get this info without asking her?

I know some people just have the automatic name from the camera make ie IMG_XXXX.jpg or they just name them a subject to do with the photo.

I don't know the correct terminology for "what you name your photo" is, sorry.

Thanks :D

I think the correct, technical term is "what you name your photo" ..

You should not need any software to view the filename of an image that you're viewing in your browser.  In most browsers you can simply right-click on the image and select 'get info' or 'properties', and a pop-up will appear with the full path & name of the file, file size, etc.

Is that what you mean?

It seems that most websites, including social network sites, will rename the original filename once uploaded. They will give the originally uploaded image a new random filename with lots of numbers/letters.

Example: Facebook will take my image filename CutePuppy.jpg and turn it into n1234567.jpg

"original filename" is probably a better term for what I'm looking for lol.

I'm needing info on how to get that original filename instead of the random one the websites give out in the properties tab.

Thanks!

I think your only hope for getting the original filename after it's been changed is if it is stored as part of the EXIF data. So you can try to get a free EXIF viewer, download the image, and check the EXIF data, but I'm pretty sure you wont find much.

Thanks I'll try that.

I've been reading about MFT (master file tables) and am wondering if that's only for a user's personal info on their computer or if there's a way to view a website's MFT.

Hm, I'm probably starting to get in waaaay over my head lol.

No (proper) website is going to give up it's MFT info - and, since most websites don't even run on Windows, they would not even have an MFT.
