A Tribute to the Anti-Valentine Crowd.

Valentine's day is almost upon us. In the stores, it is already shoved down our throats. Are you tired of having your affections manipulated by Hallmark and Nestle candy?  When was the last time you wanted someone to feel they are forcibly handing you a gift? This thread is for you - - for those of who refuse to be enslaved by commercialism. The single. The happy. The free. And those that will unshamelessly enjoy an annual random hook-up at the local anti Valentine Day party!

Give us your best Anti Valentine’s Day Rant here.

I don't like it.  Never did.  VD is often a sting in the side to many people.  The people to whom the date was invented for don't need it (why pick a day to be nice?) and the remainder sure don't need it either.

husband of mine loathes V.Day. since we have a "mini," we usually do something for her. we'll continue that until she's old enough (teen) to realize the pointless commercial hype.

My parents just started giving a little cash, since all the hype is stupid and I never ate half the candy anyway.

we always do something for valentines day. nothing too crazy like a million dollars worth of commercial hype but something. if you believe that celebrating a day to show loved ones is pointless you could say the same thing about bdays. shouldnt we celebrate their birth in a way all year too? same with anniversaries -youre married all year. i can see dating being a different scenerio though.

We do celebrate our kids birthday all year...each child has the date of their birthday reserved each month where we do whatever they want....kind of like their date night. I just don't think you need  a bunch of marketers to sell you a bunch of crap to express your love to your spouse or significant other. Birhdays and anniversary's mark momentous occassions in one's life...occassions that you chose to create not that were forced on you by a calendar and Hallmark. Don't get me wrong...the holiday is fun but I think it puts too much pressure on people to have someone or do things that they wouldn't do otherwise.

We aren't Valentines people either. It just seems stooopid to have a day to celebrate the one you love....you should be doing that all year long. We basically ignore it except for Budders still giving out valentines at school. Last year he got his first "secret admirer" valentine and I am going to strangle the little girl if I find out who it is...lol...he's my baby!

My mother's birthday is the day after Valentine's Day.  I've always considered her lucky, she gets awesome chocolates (since they are everywhere you look this month) and birthday cake.  I consider myself very lucky because she knows how to share :)

You have good aim 2na :D
