tricky situation

I think this is the right forum to ask this.

Ok here it goes
For some reason I have a friend is able to know when Im conected to the internet and what pages of the internet I visit. That is a little disturbe because I got a new laptop and he do not had any fisical or physical (sorry for the spelling) contact with it.
I even notice about a yahoo account that I have and change my password several times that my friend has make comments that ONLY by knowing the information from that yahoo account could have been possible to know.plus other tech things that makes me aware someone else had acess to the yahoo account.

I know about two websites that we visit in common and we send emails to each other.

Someone said that maybe he put something true the internet into my laptop. Another person said about something called keystroke what ever that is?
I have used cc cleaner, system advanced care, norton and security from windows and windows defender. My firewall is on.

So here Im trying to learn what else can I do or what else could possible be?

Again sorry for any misspellings.

Re: tricky situation

What those people were saying your friend may have sent you is a keylogger.  Basically it's a program that can record every keystroke you make (everything you type) and even where you go on your computer.

Which is very possible.  All you would have had to do is receive the program from him (maybe click on a file he sent you) and activate it.  They can run hidden and you may never know.

It's also very illegal to install a keylogger on any computer you do not own.  So if that were the case, what your friend did is illegal.

You can try something meant to scan for keyloggers like a-squared, which is free.  Other than that, I can't really think of anything off the top of my head to check.

Yeah like she said it might be a Key Logger which is very Illegal.
Or he might have your Local Ip, with your Local Ip he has a program where he inserts the Ip and can see what you do on your computer, like another screen with whatever you do.

There are some Programs that help Hide your Ip Address or change them.
Note: If you have that person on msn or a site they own they can easily get your Ip.

Incorrect - if he ONLY has your local IP, he cannot see what you are doing. If there is a Trojan or Keylogger on your computer, THEN he may be able to see such things.

Re: tricky situation

sounds like it could be a program used for monitoring kids, like Net Nanny.

It can monitor or block websites and it can't be detected or removed by scanners.

Re: tricky situation

Are u windows/linux/mac

If windows...

Try browsing the Uninstall Program list from your Control Panel. Monitor programs still show up there sometimes, be careful if you do decide to delete anything, make sure u know what it is
