Viewing non-friend profiles.

I heard that for facebook you can access people's profiles just by having an email account from the school there from. Is this true? Also i know its a long shot but is there anyway to get ahold of, make, or fake an email address for that school somehow you think?

Re: Viewing non-friend profiles.

It's almost impossible to get a free email account from a school without going there. School's usually assign students their accounts, there is no regular sign up.

However, if that person who's profile you want to see is in a regional network (facebook lets you join a network for school, work, or region) you can sign up to facebook with any email (facebook now lets any email sign up with them) and join that persons REGIONAL network.

For example, I am signed up to the NYC area network. I can see profiles of people who have chosen to list themselves in the NYC region as well. Even if I don't attend their school I can see their profile if they allow regional users to view their page.

Yeah I see what your talking about. This specific person is in a college network. It says you can only be in one network at a time and there dedicated to the collage one :/

You can be in more than one network. I have a profile that is in my college network & regional.

Just because you are in the same network, or share a school address you cannot see a persons profile. You may only see the persons profile if the person has chosen to allow that in their privacy settings. THe person must allow you or the network to view the profile. Again, users can chose to not be found in a search of any sort.
